Bon soir mes amis,

I hope this email finds you all healthy and happy.  The committee wants to express its sincere condolences about the weather this week. Poor planning on their part. Nous sommes vraiment désolés. I hope nobody showed up for the ride this morning.  The weather forecast for tomorrow looks like more rain and wet roads. Your humble domestique did finally brave the weather this afternoon for a brisk, rainy 47 miles. As the committee says, the miles must be ridden, the form improved.

The weather forecast is for a brisk 43 degrees tomorrow at 5:30am without rain. If I wake up at 4:30 and it's raining, I'm going back to bed and recommend you do the same.

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION:
As always, the rides will start at 5:30AM, we will meet in the alley between Owenhouse Cycling and Rockford Coffee Company. We will ride the  MODIFIED Working Dawgs training loop. There is no gravel on this loop. There are many places to cut this loop short and return to town early if work, family or life are interfering with your training. We are usually back in town around 8:15-8:30.  Although this is not a no-drop ride, we do stop 3 times to let dropped riders catch back up and to regroup. The link below is for the MODIFIED loop.

The committee is pleased to announce that Family Promise is our local charity for fundraising this year. This is an organization that helps many families in the Gallatin Valley in their very important mission.\

Please read below for a summary of their mission and goals

Our vision is  to end homelessness in the Gallatin Valley, one family at a time.

Our mission to empower families experiencing housing insecurities to secure a safe, affordable home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future for their children

Cadel Evans was a working Dawg! Winner of the strade bianchi stage of the Giro d'Italia 2010. Winner of the World Championships in 2009. He of course won the Tour De France in 2011.

I hope to see. you all tomorrow bright and early

Your humble domestique

Jeff

Bon soir mes amis...
sorry for the second email. I just received a text from a beloved Working Dawg regular and was informed that the weather forecast might be a touch optimistic. FYI the committee is using the weather app on Iphone for the forecast. I realized also that the predicted temp was erroneously said to be 43, that's the temp now. The predicted temp for tomorrow is 37 at 5:30. oops

On that note, I think it is unlikely to not be raining or wet tomorrow at 5:30am. I anticipate going back to bed.

I did bundle up and go ride this afternoon and will likely do the same tomorrow. If anybody still wants to meet later in the day and ride let me or us know. I was thinking of 1:00pm at Rockford/Owenhouse for the Modified Working Dawgs loop. Let me know what you all think

Your humble domestique
Jeff

Bonjour mes amis,

I hope this email finds you all healthy and happy.  The committee is very sorry for the continued bad weather. The weather forecast for tomorrow looks like more rain and wet roads. Your humble domestique did brave the rain, cold and dark this morning for a brisk, rainy 47 solo  miles. As the committee says, the miles must be ridden, the form improved.

The weather forecast according to the weather app on my iPhone is for 39 degrees tomorrow at 5:30am without rain.

I think with all of this rain, avoiding the gravel is a good idea.

Gino Bartali was a Working Dawg! He is on. his way to winning the 1948 Tour de France, He won in 1938 too...the longest stretch between victories. His win in the 1948 edition of the Tour De France is said to have possibly prevented a civil war in Italy, by uniting the country/distracting them from their divisions. He also won the Giro d'Italia in 1936, 37 and 46. The Tour of Lombardia x 3 and Milan San Remo x 4. His great rival was Fausto Coppi. His career was interrupted by WWII. He helped the Italian resistance during the war by carrying messages in the tubes of his bicycle on long training rides. He is also credited with helping save Jewish families from the Nazis even hiding a family in his home. He rarely talked about what he did during the war, saying "some medals are made to hang on the soul, not on the jacket"

I hope to see you all tomorrow bright and early.

Your humble domestique

Jeff
