Bon jour mes amis

I hope this email finds you all healthy and happy.  The committee is very excited to get our little training camp going and we have a big announcement. We have two volunteers to lead the ride on Monday morning, Lucien Hand and Randall Lundgren will be there to lead the ride. The committee of a very grand merci to both of them.  The miles must be ridden, the form improved. The weather is finally improving. As always, the rides will start at 5:30AM, we will meet in the alley between Owenhouse Cycling and Rockford Coffee Company. We will ride the 50 mile Working Dawgs training loop, the same loop every day. There is a ~ 6 mile section of gravel, please come prepared. There are many places to cut this loop short and return to town early if work, family or life are interfering with your training. We are usually back in town around 8:15-8:30.  Although this is not a no-drop ride, we do stop 3 times to let dropped riders catch back up and to regroup. The link below is for the loop.

The committee is very upset with your humble domestique for missing the first day of the camp and have decided that his penance will be to ride the 50 miles he will miss on Monday on Tuesday after the normal ride. If anyone is feeling penitent they are welcome to join me. We will return to Rockford coffee around 8:30 for espresso and a snack and continue up over Kelly Canyon, Jackson Creek and to the top of Bozeman Pass and back to town.

The committee is pleased to announce that the Help Center is our first return local charity for fundraising this year. This is an organization that is very near to your humble domestique's heart for personal reasons and they are in need of some cash, to expand their very important mission.

Please read below for a summary of their mission and goals from Mandy St. Aubyn their Development and Communications Director

It is the mission of Help Center, Inc. to provide information, outreach, direct services, advocacy, crisis counseling and therapy to clientele in a safe, confidential environment. Our 24/7 lines are available to anyone in a mental health crisis, having suicidal thoughts, worried about someone, in need of connection to community and mental health resources, or needs emotional support. We also provide trauma-informed services to sexual assault survivors of all ages and supportive family visitation services.  Available 24/7 at 586-3333, 988 or 211.

Learn more at www.bozemanhelpcenter.org. They are also actively in a campaign to acquire and renovate much-needed facilities for their team, clients, and our community as well as raise funds for additional program support. You can learn more about their Answering the Call Campaign: www.bozemanhelpcenter.org/campaign

We currently have an active 2 to 1 Match with approx. $26,000 left to fulfill. That means your $10 donation can turn into $30, automatically tripling!

Donations are greatly appreciated:

These two were Working Dawgs! Roger Devlaeminck leads Eddy Merckx during the 1975 Paris Roubaix. Merckx the GOAT, with 5 tours, 5 giros,1 Vuelta, 3 worlds  and every monument more than once, lost this race in a sprint to Devlaeminck after flatting with 8km to go and chasing back on after a wheel change with 5km to go. They were both amazing riders though, along with Rio Van Looy the only riders to win all 5 monuments(Milan-San Remo, Tour of Flanders, Paris Roubaix, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, and Tour of Lombardy) in their careers.

I hope you all have a good ride on Monday morning
Look for the normal Sunday night email
Merci Lucien and Randall

Your humble domestique
Jeff

These guys are working dawgs. Bernard Thevenet with Raymond Poulidor and Joop Zootemelk, Eddy Merckx is visible in the far background in the rainbow Jersey, in the 1975 Tour de France. Thevenet would carry the Maillot Jaune all the way to Paris. He would win again in 1977. Poulid or of course would never win the Tour, despite 3 second place finishes. Zootemelk would win the 1980 Tour, but was 6 times 2nd. Eddy Merckx won 5 tours and was 2nd once.

I hope you all have a good ride in the morning
Merci Lucien and Randall

Your humble domestique
Jeff

Jacques Anquentil was a Working Dawg. Monsieur Chrono was a master of the time trial and the first 5 x winner of the Tour De France, He also won the Giro and the Vuelta. He won the Grand Prix des nations 9 times, at the time it was the unofficial world time trial championships. He set the world hour record.

I hope to see you all in the morning.

Bonsoir mes amis

I hope this email finds you all healthy and happy.  The committee is very proud of Monday's riders, 5 brave souls took on some challenging weather conditions, Randall and Lucien our leaders, Luke, Alan Adams, Chelsee Pummel all did the ride in wet, cold conditions with hail thrown in for good measure, Bravo!!!  That is the way to get the miles and conditioning in, it also strengthens the mind too. This morning we had 19 riders show up, the committee is pleased. It was a spirited group, there were no flats, again Bravo!!! but there were 2 falls, let's all be careful out there.  I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow morning bright and early.  The miles must be ridden, the form improved. The extra 50 miles for your penitent humble domestique were completed with the company of Kelly Zieman and John Barton, thank you gentlemen.

The weather looks to be a clear 51 degrees at 5:30, with sunrise at 5:34am.

Big Announcement- Please Read...
Lucien and Jurgita Hand have yet again offered a $1000 dollar matching grant on top of our other matches, there is also yet again an additional $1000 anonymous matching grant.  The committee cannot express how much the generosity of these donors over the years in this regard means to this little training camp and the mission of raising funds for local charities. As always let's make sure our matching donors pay the maximum.😁

If we all donate just a little, we can have a big impact for our community.    There is no such thing as a donation too small.
Please try to give up 2 pints of beer or 2 coffee's and help those in need.    The link below is easy to use.   It takes less than 5 minutes.

We have triple matching dollars as Jeff has shared.  Let's make Lucian pay up !!!   (Thanks Lucian)

Bonjour mes amis

I hope this email finds you all healthy and happy.  This morning we had 16 riders show up, the committee is pleased. It was a spirited group, there were two flats today, both courtesy of your humble domestique. He received a stern talking to for not running fresh rubber on the rear for camp. Thanks to everyone for your patience and help. Let's all continue to be careful out there through the remainder of the summer.  I look forward to continuing to see you all on the roads and trails.  The miles were ridden, the form was improved.

Thanks to everyone who came out and rode, it was a fun week. Big thanks to everyone who donated to our charity this year! The committee is very pleased, BRAVO!!!

Big Announcement- Please Read... Please click the link and make a donation!!!
We did raise enough money to match Lucian and Jurgita Hands' offer of $1000, this also kicked in the other $1000 match. It's not too late to make a donation, every little bit helps!!!

Fausto Coppi was a working dawg! They called him Il Campionismo.  Here he is riding in the rainbow Jersey he won in 1953. He split Italy in half with Gino Bartali. He won the Giro x 5, the Tour x 2, Milan San Remo x 3, Paris Roubaix x 1, Tour of Lombardia x 5 and he set the world hour record in 1942.

I will see you all soon

Your humble domestique
Jeff

a little bit of The Pixies for you all....
