in Bozeman has just started selling their used whiskey barrels. Maybe
you've been inspired by our recent bourbon barrel project, or just
want to experiment more, here is a great opportunity. Convenient
sizing (5 gallons) can be filled with just a single batch of
homebrew. List price is $50, not sure if they'll fly off the shelves
or if they'll be willing to barter.
This also brings up another point. RoughStock is always looking for
groups (of 6-8 people) to volunteer and help them bottle batches of
their whiskey. What's in it for you? Besides getting to see behind
the scenes of this local distillery you get free samples, lunch, and a
t-shirt just for helping for a few hours on a Saturday. Not to
mention you'll see your hand labeled bottles on the liquor store
shelves. Sessions fill up months in advance, so this would be a field
trip we'd have to plan in advance. Let me know if you're interested
and we could look into getting on the list.

Now Available for purchase in the web store!!! 5 gallon northern
American fine white oak whiskey cured barrels
(actual capacity estimated at ~6.5 gallons). The barrels were used for
as maturation vessels for aging experimental batches of our 100%
malted barley and 100% wheat whiskeys. This process imparts unique and
flavorful elements in the oak and will add unmatched depth and
complexity to whatever is aged inside. Built in the traditional style
they are toasted and charred inside, built with galvanized steel
hoops, and hand assembled with thick oak staves. Perfect for aging
beers, sauces, bitters, syrups, or cocktails. They can also be used
for home woodworking, decoration purposes, or as serving vessels. Our
used barrels are fully functional and have not been painted oraltered
in any way. These barrels also come complete with oak stopper bung and
maintenance instructions for use/storage. Markings will be similar as
shown but can vary as each barrel is exceptionally different. Please
contact us for bulk purchases.
We have limited availability and they are available for purchase from
our web store with both a pick up and shipping option.
