Shiham Siddiqui - who arrived on the 10th, weighing
6lbs-7ozs. (I am sorry if I am being repetitive, some

Another on-site interview is scheduled this morning with Motorola again this Monday, but this time it's with a group in Florida. Finally the ball is in my court. I guess I will explore all the possible opportunities and then take a decision. Most probably I am going take my 1st offer in Chicago. I will let you guys know as soon I reach my final decision.

About the location+job: the way I looked at it is (since I had another offer from Denver, CO) ...in the order of significance :

1. Job prospect...can i stay longer? company reputation.

2. Salary+packages+benefits

3. Relevance to my MS/education..can I enjoy? and/or can I be an important factor in my job?..for babu it carries more importance since he got phd in his pocket

3. Location...living cost/ price of house/schools/etc. 

4. career progression

Another factor worked for me was ...houston is a heaven for petroleum engineers as you may imagine.....if I get some experience in houston i can establish myself anywhere in the world......I am not so sure if this is any point in Babu's case.

let me remind you one thing, usually we get excited (and emotional) about our first finding. ..so we always intend to forget/ignore any others...just make sure you analyze eash opportunity equally.

Think about it hero.....

Finally the game is over and the Winner is ...... (sorry... you need to read the whole story).

 

I came back from Florida on Monday midnight. The FL group was supposed to get back to me on Tuesday with their decision, as you know I had a deadline of Wednesday with the Chicago groups. I went through a very tensed and stressful day yesterday... eagerly waiting to hear something from FL group with a urgency that I need to get back to the Chicago group by 5 pm. Although the FL manager extended the offer yesterday afternoon, the HR people failed to come up with a offer letter in due time. Finally after waiting till 4 pm, I called up the Chicago manager and accepted his offer. So now I am destined to Chicago and happy to get over with it.

 

Hopefully I will be moving to Chicago in October. I will keep you guys updated. Tahmid good to see you making dynamic moves... I guess we can consider this as sort of promotion.. congrats!! 

 

Now guys... give me some encouraging news about Chicago... shanto isn't there any beach nearby... Polash.. do you have any info?

Good to see you back in form again. Thanks a lot for the brief documentry on Chicago. Lake, night-life, jazz, burger... kichui to bad rakosh nai.. looks like I have made the right decision. The other positive side of Chicago... to be more specific Libertyville... is its great community and there is a high standard Islamic Public School nearby.
