While the series is known for its top-down perspective gameplay, what if we told you that there was an even more immersive way for you to experience The Sims 4? A way which, quite literally, places you inside your Sim's head?
Have you ever wanted to really get up and close with your Sim's pet, or check out what exactly your Sim is watching on that new plasma screen TV you purchased for them? If this sounds like you, read on to discover how to activate the ability to see and interact with The Sims 4 world as if standing in your own Sim's shoes.
Moving your mouse around will allow you to look around the game world. You can recentre the camera on your Sim's view by simply pressing the LEFT CTRL key on your keyboard.
This is super annoying, so im in build mode, clicked 'top down view' while moving stuff about/decorating, that sorta thing and i click it again once im finished and its barely moving, like im still above the house and not in it...HELP!!!!
Click on Buy/Build mode and, after that, push the "T" key of you keyboard. If this doesn't help, please try selecting The Sims 3 camera mode in Camera options and rotating the view with the third button of the mouse.
Thanks for help from anyone. I want to view my sims as if I am looking at them, instead of looking down at them as if I were an eagle! I am brand new to Sims 4, and working out the quirks is driving me batty. Two and three were child's play compared to this one. I appreciate any help you can send my way.
@suzantreedplayerIn the top right corner of your screen you can click on the Camera Control icon and switch your game to the Sims 3 style camera control & see if this works easier for you. I was a Sims 3 player for years before I switched to Sims 4 so that's the option I use as I find it easier to control the camera angle. It's all just a matter of personal preference.

The Sims 4 patch on November 13, 2018 added first person mode to the game. While in first person, you're able to look around normally but through your Sim's eyes. Do nothing, and the camera will follow your Sim's gaze. Options are included to help you with field of view, interacting with the world, and getting around. Here's a quick guide and video to help you get around the new mode. Click here to learn nearly all Sims 4 controls.
Shift-Tab enters first person mode. Use right-click to get a 'move here' command through obstacles, like doors. Pressing left-control will stop the camera and seems to recenter it based upon where your Sim is looking. Space will cycle through Sims (shift-space may include pets), and you can exit first person by pressing Shift-tab once more. If you hold shift while in first person, you'll be free to use the mouse instead of moving the camera, allowing you to make use of the game interface.
Playing the game in first person is entirely possible. When you move the mouse, you'll look anywhere (even behind your Sim). If it is clickable from this perspective, you can interact with it. You must get into viewing range or have no walls in front of you, though. Thankfully there is an option to help you get past walls.
Can't get through a door? Right-click instead of left and you'll bring up a go here menu so that you can tell your Sim to get past the obstacle. They'll take the shortest path like they normally would, and from there you should be able to interact.
Field of View is commonly used to get a better viewing angle or to reduce motion sickness in first person games. Scrolling the mouse wheel down (or whatever your normal zoom out button is if on Mac) will allow you to increase FOV and may be a bit easier on your eyes and stomach. Due to the amount of head bobbing and eye movement Sims make, this can be pretty disorienting though for short scenes it's entirely tolerable. I suggest everyone try it, as it's going to make for some pretty cool screenshots and will aid storytellers.
When my Sim turned into a bat, she teleported and left me behind in normal camera mode. Woohoo is likely to look very buggy due to its nature. Anything that has textures not meant to be seen from this angle is going to look strange. That said, this was a great idea by the dev team and one Guru worked to make it happen (evidently). I am sure it will get some polish in future patches, now that it's officially a part of the game. For now, we can live with the minor issues that come up.
Make sure your game is fully updated and that any mods you might be using are not causing the issue. It's working for me so without any more info I really can only guess what is going wrong for you...
very handy guide as always. however i have sims 4 on pc and pn xbox and on the xbox there is an option to slow the look speed of first person so you dont end up looking behind yourself with a touch of the control however on the pc edition i cant seem to find a similar option, and i was wondering if such an option existed
i cant go in first person mode because im on asus vivobook! i dont think its works but if somehow it does work to go in first person mode on asus vivobook i would be really happy if someone would tell me how because i dont know. everywhere it says i need to press/hold in shift and tab but it doesnt work

There is a new platform tool in The Sims 4. There's also a new Sentiments system, but it'll take some time to create a guide to that. Players can also use rental lots in any world now by changing lot types of builds in manage worlds.
I now have a guide page to Tiny Living Stuff where you can learn about Murphy Beds, the new death, as well as the lot bonuses you'll receive if you manage to keep the size of your lot down with this new pack's Tiny Home Lot Type.
This was inspired by a series, "Let's Play a Super Sim" in which I start at toddler and gradually take on the major bonuses. Here's a link to each part for people who are interested. You can also see the Let's Play as a Playlist on Youtube.
The Sims 4 Discover University has been announced for November 15 for PC/Mac and December 17 for Xbox and Playstation 4 consoles. Click to learn more about the pack, see my summary of the livestream or read our FAQs below.
I live on a +25 'Beautiful Vista' lot in the hills in bridgeport, in a half-glass house (approx. 75% of walls are glass). At first I would get the moodlet while in the house, but after I made it slightly bigger (by 10-20%), and added a fence and a celebrity gate, I lost the moodlet inside the house, I still get it once I go out on my lot. Why did I loose it?
'Beatiful Vista' is a moodlet you get when your sim lives on 'prime real estate'. Think Boardwalk and Park Place from Monopoly. Certain high end lots get this assigned to them based on their location, usually a flat piece of land, high up, with an unobstructed view of the town.
I dont know why you lost it, as the moodlet comes from the lot itself and not from anything added to it. You could level the entire house and walking on the grass would/should still give you the moodlet.
These are voice and data sims, they are primarily data as the voice is something crazy like 30 cents a minute but they are both. Why would it matter though as even a data only sim still has a phone number?
My issue is when I call into our provider or go into our account portal or check our invoice, it lists all plans by their telephone number so I have to keep calling in and providing the sim # from the HD2/HD4 to have them tell me the telephone number on it. I would have assumed the Pepwave device would show the phone #, since if I put these sims in my cell phone it shows the phone number under status the way it would with any device.
Seem you confirmed that Cell Phone able to display the MTN info using the same SIM card, then we may need to further investigate from the device. Can you please open a support ticket here for support team to further check ?
