I ran across this little thread, just wanted to point something out:

GTA IV is on the list with SecuROM protection on http://reclaimyourgame.com/,
like GTA:San Andreas. I only have experience with GTA:SA, which
definitely has SecuROM, but it seems logical that Rockstar would stick
to one protection scheme.

I haven't had much experience with StarForce myself as I've been
carefully avoiding it, but I do know SecuROM. Several of the games I
own have SecuROM, a few with StarForce, none of which I play anymore.

Oh god that sucks! I have two games under SecuROM is Stronghold 2 and Legends which was a special birthday gift, now to ruins! >;-( Since this happen, I would never buy any games unless if it has NO stupid protection crap.
