At about 11 p.m. last night the imager and sounder on GOES-13 started displaying problems. The DCPR was not experiencing any problems. The problems were serious enough that they were concerned for the safety of the spacecraft. At 6:05 a.m. this morning they sent a command to basically reboot the satellite. That shut everything down. My understanding is that it will take about 18 hours for everything to reset, so this will not change dramatically until at least Thursday night, if then.
In the meantime, at Wallops we have switched our east demods to a West antenna. Those stations that can see both will come in. They are also going to turn on GOES-14, but not move it. Since it is further East, we should pick up more of the missing stations.
GOES-East LRIT will not be working either.
I will keep you informed as I know more.
Kay
