Brings back good memories.  Does anybody remember when they added the little periscopes with an image inside? My King Tiger, you would look through the hatch and you'd see a tank exploding; I also had a submarine and if you looked down the missile hatch you would see what looked like an engine room.

I think the purpose of the square boxes was for the addition of the vacuum-formed terrain base.

Have great memories of these models. Their Sherman, I think it's the first tank model I ever built. The Centurion was the very first model that I built that I was able to make the tracks actually work so I could roll it around. I love the Chi-Ha.  Fascinated by the Swedish S-Tank.  Apparently these models were falling out of favor because I never knew about their 8-in. howitzer and high-speed tractor until eBay.  (Jean, do we need a box scan of that kit?)

The Sherman and the Panther were available in a Monogram box set that came out in the '80s. The Sherman with the Monogram Focke-Wulf, and the Panther with the P-51B.  Was there a third one, does anyone remember? I vaguely remember but I can't place it.

Thanks again, Jean.

All my best,

Fred Boucher

Those little Aurora tanks fit pretty well, and were great for young modelers. I really liked the Panther, King Tiger, and the Long Tom gun. I also think they were fairly accurate 1/48 scale, and until ...more
