In keeping with the of today's connection with the spirit of Star Wars and space, we present a new Free Download with historical connection.

In the mid 1950s Walt Disney teamed up with several leading architects of the US space program, still in it's infancy.

On 09 March, 1955, the ABC network broadcast Walt Disney's "Disneyland" TV show.

A segment on that show was named, "Man in Space."

It was an insightful and fascinating featurette that showed the history of rockets and a possible future of manned spaceflight.

Later segments were, "Man and the Moon" and "Mars and Beyond."

These were release on DVD in the Disney Treasures, Tomorrow Land disc.

In 1958, Strombecker released a model kit based on one of the spacecraft featured in the Disney show.

The RM-1 Space Ship kit was a 1/67 scale replica of a ship featured in the show.

The kit is still available in the Glencoe catalog.
