Hello Boxsters,
Sorry for the late post.
This weeks FD is the 1969, stylized John Steel art that Aurora used on the Big-A release of the 1/48 scale German Panther Medium tank from WWII.
Over 6,000 Panther were built during the war and the Panther served with several other nations after the war.
It's main armament was a 75mm gun with 79 rounds of ammo.
This was backed up by two 7.92 MG34 machine guns.
I selected a handful of images of the Panther for your enjoyment.
All the images are 1280 pixels.

Hey, Jean:

I vividly remember those weird, square boxes Aurora put during their "last gasp" years in the mid-1970s. I wonder what the thinking behind them was...

Those little Aurora tanks fit pretty well, and were great for young modelers. I really liked the Panther, King Tiger, and the Long Tom gun. I also think they were fairly accurate 1/48 scale, and until the Bandai line of excellent 1/48 armor came out, I think they were about the only thing molded in that scale.

I remember building the Panther in the back seat of my father's VW Bug as we drove North to PA on  vacation.  This was in the days before seat belts!

Ahh, yes, the good old days when we tried to build (assemble?) a model in a moving car....and in my case while dealing with siblings...
