I try to remember what was going on the year that kit came out.

1953, WWII ended just 8 years ago and Korea ended the year before.

Truman was out of office and Eisenhower was President.

The Baby Boomers were just making the scene and there were kids everywhere.

There was no Jack Leynnwood, Jo Kotula,or John Steel, yet.

Actually, Jo Kotula had been doing magazine covers back in the '30s! It was easy for him to transfer over!
Here's an ad he did for Brewster in 1940!

Thanks Michael. So did Kotula do the original Aurora B-29, and if not, who? For that matter, who did the second generation, and final (Big A) artwork, do you or anyone else know? Scott

I commented on the art on the FB page but wanted to share it here as well.

Ha!! I didn't know the history of the kit till now. Pretty artwork. I attempted to build the later release with the Big A artwork when I was a kid. Even then I realized that it wasn't such a great "state of the art" kit. The wing tab wouldn't fit into the fuselage so my solution was to saw off the tab. As could be expected I was never able to get the wing reattached "permanently". Neither Testor's tube glue or epoxy ever managed to attach that wing.  Big kit, big wing, and for me a forever doomed repair job  :-)
