Hello Boxsters,
The second Monday in 2026, and a new Free Download has been prepared for your enjoyment.
Chris' brother, Eric, has been uploading his archive files since the middle of December.
We are finally up to the Revell PSD (PhotoShop Document) files and one of them jumped out immediately.
For some reason this one was missing in the Gallery and I did not have a scan of it in my archive.
We present the restored art from the 1959, first release of the Revell AD-6 Douglas Skyraider, 1/40 scale kit.
This was an amazing kit to build when it came out, and it still is.
The big scale and intricate working features make it truly a modelers project piece.
The prototype first flew in 1945, and over 3,100 of them were made in numerous versions in US Navy and USAF service.
The Skyraider was retired from US military in 1973, but soldiered on until 1985 in an African nations service.
I collected a dozen images of the Skyraider for your viewing pleasure.
All the images are 1280 pixels.

Jean,
I don't recall Guillows making a kit of the Skyraider, but that would Fly!
The movie 'Flight of the Intruder' has a scene of a 'Sandy' in ground attack.

Loved this model!   Built it when I was using Pactra rattle cans to spray paint.

Now I want another one.  Have they been rereleased or do I have to seek one on ickBay?
Thanks,

Fred

It's the smaller scale kit and is designed to fly.  I've had one in the stash for a few decades.  All of the planes in that series have nearly the exact same wingspan.

Wow! Never knew Guillow's did that kit.
Now I want one. I built a few others.
Thanks! Chris.

What a fabulous kit! I loved it and messed it up badly back in the '60s! It's big and has lots of 'features'!
This is the crappy original box art but the later two issues with Steel and then Lynnwood's stunning box art are over the top!
I've one in the stash that I'll never build...too bad it's 1/40 rather than 1/48 but the 'working features' kill it in any 'real' model contest!
BUT - it's over the top for fun!
Michael
PS: We have one based here in Houston - for which you used a photo of. I've been up close and personal many times with it - a big machine!

Found the Guillow's one and a 1/40 scale Revell kit on 'Flea'-Bay.

I did this kit in October 2024 and did some videos of the build.  It was a masterful yet comlex bit of engineering for 1958-59 but making eveything work is tricky.  It makes and OK Sandy but like most kits with folding wings and working features you sacrifice accuracy for working parts and there is a lot of fitting to do including using oils to lube moving parts.  The cockpit decals are a joke even for the fifties but all else is actually kind of OK.  Here is the reveal video.
