Cool model.  I don't think I've ever seen that kit before - one of thousands I've never seen before, no doubt.   (Have any of you ever seen a Monogram box advertising a forthcoming M56 Scorpion?  A friend has a Monogram box with that printed on it, one of those proposed kits that apparently was never to be.)

I remember building a Renewal cruiser with an electric motor I had to assemble, including about 6000 miles of hair-thin copper wire.  I think it is the only Renwal ship I ever built.  

Compass Island looks like a cool unique subject.  Have any of you built it? I'm assuming it's 1961 quality in terms of clunky molding and the like but I'm considering trying to acquire one if the price is right.  I built enough of the gee whiz multimedia thousand part kits and now I just want to throw some things together to enjoy.

Yes, it has been a roller coaster weather ride here in Iowa as well. Today
a new record high of 69 in the Des Moines area. A couple of weeks ago,
wind chills in the -20 to -30 F.
