Hello Boxsters,
Yesterday marked 46 years since man first walked on the moon.
Today is Monday, 21 July, 2025, and time for a new Free Download.
This week's FD is the final entry in Monogram's wonderful Quarter Scale Series of WWII aircraft.
After years of seeking the whole series we finally got them all.
This week's FD is the Richard Locher art that Monogram featured on their 1963 release of the Vought F4U-4 Corsair fighter.
The kit featured all the moving parts that were popular during that time.
The Corsair first flew in 1940, and over 12,500 of them were built in several versions.
The US retired it in 1953, and Honduras retired the last ones in 1979.
I selected a dozen Corsair images for your viewing pleasure.
All the images are 1280 pixels.

Hi Jean,

How many kits are in the Monogram Quarter Scale Series of WWII aircraft? I'm trying to get all the downloads into one folder.

Thanks!

Steve Billings

Funny you ask, I just looked this up yesturday for a future video.
By my count 39 total IF you include the Skyraider and F-80 which both flew but did not see action (the F8F Bearcat and F7F Tigercat were 1/72 scale oddly enough.
My count:
3 four engine bombers (B-17, B-24, B-29)
9 two engined aircraft
23 single engine (15 fighters, 3 dive bombers, 2 torpedo planes, 2 trainers and 1 scout plane)
37 props.
2 Jets (Me-262 & P/F-80).
Cheers
Max

Jean
I think you meant to say July 20 was the 56th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing.
I'd be more than happy to be 10 years younger than I am!
