BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Teachers Ms. Pfeifer and Ms. Brisco are sponsoring Black History Month events at Bowie and they are looking for donations. Any help is greatly appreciated! Donations can be brought to the front office and labeled as "Faculty Soul Food Luncheon Pfeiffer/Brisco”.
· $25 VISA/major credit card - gift cards for our out-of-town performing guests at the Black History Month assembly (on Fri., 2/23)
· $50 VISA/major credit card - gift cards for our out-of-town guest speaker and performing guests at the Black History Month assembly (on Fri., 2/23)
· Bush's Chicken gift cards (any amount) for the Faculty Soul Food Luncheon (on Wed., 2/28)

COURSE ADVISING FOR 2018-2019
Counselors will be available on a first-come, first–served basis for course advising on February 19th from 10am-12pm and 4pm-7pm at Bowie. This is open to parents and students. (NOTE: This is a student holiday.)

Swim and Dive Are State Bound…
Nine Bowie students are going to State- this is the highest number we have taken to State since 2003 when we were competing in 5A! Our Boys’ Team placed 10th overall in the Region and Girls placed 9th overall. Congratulations to the following athletes: Diana Dunn placed 1st in 200IM and 2nd in the 200FR, qualifying her for state in both; Gavin Moak placed 2nd in the 500FR, qualifying him for state; Alekzandr Popper placed 1st in dive, qualifying him for state and All-American; Girls 200 Medley Relay placed 6th calling them up for state with Mackenzie Martell, Sigrid Lamberg, Caroline Myers and Diana Dunn and Girls 400 FR Relay placed 3rd, calling them up for state with Diana Dunn, Arianna Lax, Kaitlyn McDaniel and Delaney Anthony. Boys 200 Medley Relay Gavin Moak, Wes Wasserburger, CJ Suarez and Nicolas Tornoe placed 12th; Gavin Moak placed 4th in the 200IM; Arianna Lax placed 6th in the 500 FR; Girls 200FR Relay Sigrid Lamberg, Caroline Myers, Arianna Lax and Kaitlyn McDaniel placed 9th; Boys 200FR Relay Jake Mickelson, James Hayek, Garrison Sales and CJ Suarez placed 10th Sigrid Lamberg placed 9th in the 100BR; Boys 400FR Jake Mickelson, Gavin Moak, Nicolas Tornoe and Wes Wasserburger Relay placed 9th.
We are so proud of Chanel Dobrzenski, Head Swim and Dive Coach, for earning the award of Region Dive Coach of the Year as well as District Coach of the Year.
Forensics Team Wins 3rd Place and Adds State Qualifiers…
At the Hays CISD State Qualifier, Bowie won 3rd place and has six new qualifiers for State. Our New State Qualifiers: Riley McCue and Alyssa Shumaker in Duet Acting; Kaedon Solana in Dramatic Interpretation; Tate Weston in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking; Amy Shreeve in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking; Jack Maedgen in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking and Ashlyn Dahl in Congressional Debate. Duet Acting: 2nd place- Alyssa Shumaker and Riley McCue; 5th place- Maya Armand and Gillian Griffis; 6th place- Kaedon Solana and Grace Widner. Dramatic Interpretation: 1st place- Kaedon Solana; 2nd place- Riley Sugrue. Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking: 2nd place- Tate Weston.
Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking: 4th place- Amy Shreeve; 5th place- Jack Maedgen. Congressional Debate: 7th place- Ashlyn Dahl. Duo Interpretation: 5th place- Sofia Hutton and Grace Widner; 6th place- Maya Armand and Gillian Griffis. Lincoln Douglas Debate: Octo-finalist- Tate Weston.
Bowie Mountain Bike Team Kicks Off The Season…
The Bowie Mountain Bike Team kicked the race season off with a 2nd place overall win, racing against teams from all over the state. The race in was Troy, Texas where the Bulldogs dominated many race events and were well represented on the podium. Varsity Girls: Alexis Bobbit — 1st place. Varsity Boys: Conner Chatham — 2nd place. JV Girls: Clara Ramsay — 3rd place. JV Boys: Logan Poore — 2nd place, Andre Kachkin — 3rd place, John Carrol — 5th place. Sophomore Girls: Retta Johnson — 1st place. Sophomore Boys: Aiden Ruth — 1st place, Ethan Wood — 4th place, Ryan Wood — 5th place.
