Bulldog Proud- We Have a State Champion Wrestler…
Christian Moreno, with a broken hand, dominated the state tournament in Cypress and is the 6-A 120 pound state champion! He shredded the competition at State and received a gold medal on the podium after a very strong career, finishing 4th, 3rd, 2nd in the previous three state tournaments. He is the first state champion from AISD since 2006. Christian has only lost 5 matches and has been outstanding on the mats!
Robert Hernandez and Aylen Vivar had tough draws at the state tournament and gave it a ton of fight, but couldn't pull one out. Both ended their seasons with their heads held high as they made it to the final 16 in a state that has over 16,000 wrestlers. Just missing out on a medal spot was Jacob Junk, who missed half the season with a broken back. After a tough consolation semis loss, he finished in an 8th place tie. Alina Kinsey lost a match on day one to the eventual state runner up and fought back through the consolation side of the bracket to place 5th, making her an All-State Wrestler! She ends her Bowie wrestling career as a two-time state medalist and two-time All-State team member.
