UPCOMING PARENT MEETINGS
Current 9th to 11th Grade Parent Night January 22nd 6-8pm in the Cafeteria
Our counseling staff will be reviewing graduation requirements and the course registration process for next year's classes. We will offer two break-out sessions. One will be our "Movin' On Up" session, including all the ins and outs of our advanced academic programs; Pre-AP and AP, ACC's Dual Credit Program, and UT's OnRamps Classes. The other session will be a PSAT score interpretation session presented by a representative from More Than a Teacher. We look forward to seeing you there!

AISD SALUTE ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS
Open nominations for Principal of the Year, Assistant Principal of the Year, Counselor of the Year, Librarian of the Year and Classified Staff of the Year began Jan. 2 and close Jan. 31. We invite staff, students, parents and community members to nominate a candidate for these awards. For more information, go to www.aisdsalute.org.
STUDY ON TEENAGE STRESS
PARENTS OF 9TH GRADE STUDENTS - This year our school is participating in a research study on teenage stress with the University of Texas at Austin. UT researchers have asked that if you have agreed to complete the parent survey and have not done so already to please complete the on-line survey that was sent to the email address you provided. Your participation will help improve our understanding of teenage stress in high school. At the beginning of the parent survey, you will see brief reports on the overall trends in students' academic motivation, stress, and school adjustment. If you believe you provided an email address and have not received the survey link, please contact the UT research team by emailing at utyea...@utexas.edu to access your custom survey link.

Boys Soccer Reb Cup Tournament Champions…
Boys Varsity and JV Soccer Team went undefeated and won the tournament. Congrats guys and have a great season!
Yearbook Pacemaker Finalist…
The Lone Star 2017 was selected as a finalist for the Pacemaker, one of only 55 in the country. This is a great honor for yearbook staffers and editors. Their achievement is a reflection of the vibrant Bowie community they highlight in the yearbook.

Wrestling
Wednesday January 17th- Please come out and support your Bowie Wrestlers at their first home dual of the year! Come show your Bowie Pride, and help fill the stands. Bowie vs Lake Travis! Wrestling will begin at 6pm. JV will wrestle first then Varsity will follow after. Pizza and refreshments will be available as well to purchase.
Friday & Saturday January 19th & 20th- The wrestlers will compete in in Houston at Klein Collins High School at Hurricane Classic. Wrestlers will leave Friday morning. Anyone who would like to follow the wrestlers online can log into trackwrestling.com and put in the search Hurricane Classic.
