James Bowie World Guard Named a World Class Finalist…
The 2018 James Bowie World Guard had two exciting and inspiring performances that led to being named a finalist. This marks Bowie's 3rd appearance in Scholastic World Finals, which marks a new record in Texas State History. We are the only Scholastic World Color Guard to make finals three times since this competitive classification started in 1991. At WGI 2018, our World Guard performed to a sold-out crowd of over 14,000 along with a live international broadcast online. The world guard had their best show of the season Saturday night. James Bowie Choral Department Dominates at Choir UIL…
The James Bowie Choral Department competed at the Region 18 UIL
Concert & Sight-Reading Contest. We had five separate ensembles compete,
and all five received the coveted Sweepstakes Award for receiving
Superior Ratings in both Concert and in Sight-Reading! This is the 1st
time in over 15 years that the Freshmen level Women’s Choir has competed on their
own at UIL and the 1st time they have ever received a Sweepstakes in
their category. This is the 1st time in the history of James Bowie
High School that we have won five Sweepstakes in the same year. What an amazing
feat and a huge achievement for our choir students. At our Region 18
Contest, Bowie was the only school in the Region to be awarded 5 Sweepstakes,
we got the most awards of any school competing, and we received more First
