Technical director for the production was Hannah Huerta. Other individual awards included: All Star Cast- Maddy Sparkes and Reed Syzdek. Honorable Mention-All Star Cast- Morgan Sanders. Public performances of the production will be Wednesday, April 11 and Thursday, April 12.  The Spring Showcase will also include the comedies Dinner by Eight, Dead by Nine directed by Cortney Hall and You Can’t Take It With You directed by guest-director and Bowie alum Ashley Nava.

Bowie Band at UIL Exemplified Pride in Performance…

Over 250 students in 5 bands performed over two days for the UIL region 18 concert and sight reading contest.  Bands performed three pieces on stage for three judges and one piece in sight reading for three judges.  Sight reading is literally learned on the spot with a short explanation period for the director and then a full performance for judges and audience members. We are really proud of the work and growth from all five groups. They displayed their “pride in performance” and represented Bowie very well at this contest.  No groups scored lower than a 2 (“excellent” rating) and there were quite a few 1’s (“superior” rating) for each group.

Here are the results with the first number the rating on stage and the second number the sight reading:

Freshman Concert Band: 112, 222; Freshman Wind Ensemble: 122,111; Concert Winds: 111,122;

Symphonic Winds: 111,111; Wind ensemble: 111,111.
