Dear Friends,
First an update on the Choral Coach experiment: A few of you have reported not receiving anything from Choral Coach. The first thing to do is check your junk folder! Some have found the music in there. In cases where the singer still found nothing I've been sending out the assignment again. One person has recorded their part and submitted it for me to listen to. Jennifer has tested the platform and reports that if you record your part you have to do so unaccompanied (not helpful). Please continue to experiment with this platform to see if you can record your part AND hear a backing track to keep you on pitch and in tempo. Remember that you are an experimenter, not a candidate for my approval or disapproval!
Jennifer has also found a completely different platform that you might enjoy playing with. It's called the "Stay At Home Choir" from the UK. There is no cost but they do ask for donations. You don't have to donate to be a part of it. The attraction here is that you get to sing along with very famous groups such as The Kings Singers. The other attraction (especially to me) is that you get to work on really good repertoire by composers like Karl Jenkins. (We sang his Requiem several years ago - the one with Latin text and Japanese haiku and a shakuhachi soloist). Since I've just started playing with this one myself I can't tell you much more about it but Jennifer says it's lots of fun.
I'll paste the link to the sign-up below this e-mail. It's completely up to you whether you decide to participate or not. There isn't (as far as I can tell) a feature where you submit anything to me to listen to. Your choice!
That's it for today.
Cheers,
Tony
