I have a DSC-P10 5.0 M.P. and I keep it at 1.2. Even though, I have a 1GB stick. And there is a problem with the combination of a 1GB stick and the DSC-P10... I expirenced a fatal error on my camera...like 4 times...while you shot...and your stick is half way filled... it only stops like on the recording mode...and it stay like that... till your battery goes dead... and erases half of your photos... if u take the battery out...it erases them again. Remove the stick, reset, whatever u do...you'll lose the photos...:S

My first cybershot at 3.0 in 2001, I eventually moved up to 4.1 in 2003 and for my birthday 3 days ago, I was given a 6.0 Megapixel DSC -H2. I've only had Sony Cyber shot digital cameras and I really believe that they're the best cameras on the market.

My Cyber-shot is 8.1 megapixels and that is what I usually shoot at. I have a 1 gigabyte memory stick and it holds about 170 photos, so there is usually no problem. Even if I run out, which has never happened, my camera has some built in memory. I carry an extra battery pack, which I have never replaced while shooting. I am much more comfortable with the capacity of this camera than with my previous Sony Cyber-shot. I carry it everywhere, usually in my purse.

When I am shooting stills, it is very easy to click it with my thumb into a 2-second timer mode, and that reduces camera movement.

Mine goes up to 3.2, which I keep it set at. I used to use VGA to get more pics out of my memory stick, but I just bought a 1G card so now I get more pics, and better ones too. I would like a new camera with more megapixels though. I like to print large scale.

Mine is maxed out at 6 mps, and I keep it there, since I have a 2 gig card that lets me take almost 700 pics. On a week's vacation, I got more than 450, but that is the only time I have even come close. The higher resolution gives me crop room for artistic shots.

I have the cybershot P200 - 7.2 Megapixels. I love it. I do not leave my house without it. It takes wonderful pictures. I am considering buying the lens for it. Does anyone have a the lens already? Please let me know how it works. Thanks

I keep it on 5MP. This lets me crop as I wish. You should only use a lower setting if your your memory stick is small, you are running out of space, or you are taking shots you don't have much care for (like for ebay!)

I have a Sony CyberShot DSC-W100 camera. It does 8 megapixels, which I use most of the time since I've got a nice large 2gb Memory Stick Pro Duo. If I'm taking lots of movie clips or if I'm away from my PC (e.g. on holiday), then I'll drop the resolution down slightly to 5 megapixels so that I can take more shots. Before I upload to Flickr, I generally resize most of my photos.

Only 3.2 on my DSC-P52. I almost always keep it on that setting. What really annoys me about this camera though, is the lack of Macro function on it. Ah well, such is life.

HMMM, take a look at my stream...most of my detail c/u stuff is with the 3.2 m Cybershot. This camera gets closer than my pricy NIKON D70 unless I change a lens. You can do a great deal with these little p&s cameras.

8mp but i shoot at 320 by 240pixels... not

use all your pixels then crop, you are wasting them otherwise.

Anyone who has 8mp and shoots at 1 is missing the point, even for the simple fact that you can crop after.

you are better off with a 4mp slr than an 8mp point and shoot, search for the "megapixel myth" if you dont believe me, its all about sensor size and pixel density vs noise.

you are far better shooting a wider angle and cropping than zooming and risking camera shake/blur with blur.

Cropping & downsizing in phoptoshop is superior to using your camera cropping/downsizing software/hardware to reduce the image to 1mp.

if you are simply shooting happysnaps that you will never blow up past 10cm x 15cm, by all means stick at the low settings. but If you have anysense you will shoot on higher resolution JUST IN CASE you accidentaly shoot one that you mite want to blow up or crop, storage is cheap these days, utilise it.

your only excuse is if you dont have a large card and you dont have room to store images on your computer.

My DSC-P200 is 7.2 MP and i keep it that way. Never changed the setting. Then again there is alot i'm just learning to do with it. Haha.. I normally just take photos of my kids..but i'm now getting into snapping other things.

I love large prints, so for me it's best to keep it that high.

DSC-S60, Wonderful sony camera, 4.1Megapixels I keep it at 4.1 with Fine JPG setting, I have a 1gb card and I can hold like 400 or more pictures on it at a time, I have never filled it up, Came close though, but I like my pictures to be the highest quality possible. Especially for the kinds of photography I like to do.

I have a sony bridge with 5 megs and it does better pics (all but in macros) than my 7 mega small Cybershot. I do believe also 5 is enough. But perhaps, it does help when printed.
