Various random comments from me…..

  1. I recently attempted to build an ANET A8 printer and would now strongly advise anyone NOT to. This is not for a directly sinister reason…..but the better way would be to buy the A8 kit and NOT build it……but get the various enhancements as per ebay/utube and definitely change it to use 4020 aluminium section construction as per thingiverse and github. I have a lot (too much LOL) experience with 3D printers…..I built the REPRAPPRO Ormerod….which promptly wilted as soon as summer appeared (cos it has a cantilever beam design and the bending moment was carried via a PLA part…PLA is WAY too naff cos of its low glass point…..you canna use it for anything serious IMHO.
  2. The printer you highlighted is indeed quite sexy……but I reckon you should also look at other things going on at Banggood…….ANET have a whole family of offerings now, and I am talking to a China company who make printers that regularly and reliably print PEEK etc (high temperature) to resolutions in the low micron range.
  3. Please tell the others that I am having a clear-out and will gladly swap high-spec steppers (for example) for software favours etc. I also wish to make a Polargraph gizmo if anyone has finally perfected and in-house design???

Anyone from the group can call me on 01202 244309…I am time-poor but still occasionally show “proof-of-life”

Cheers
