So after CCleaner recommended me to update my driver, which I did afterwards, but now I have a problem with my Bluetooth. I can't connect anything with my Bluetooth. I bought a new Bluetooth stick, thinking mine was just broken, but still it didn't connect to anything.
Unfortunately I'm only getting the option to revert die Audio section. I can't tick the Bluetooth section. And since I still have the Bluetooth connection problem after updating my drivers, I'm not sure of what to do exactly.
I have a Bluetooth speaker that I use for my computer audio. It's been working flawlessly forever. CCleaner recommends driver updates. I've NEVER had issues in the past. All of a sudden, CCleaner recommends a "Avrcp Transport" driver update for my speaker. I proceeded without paying much attention, because I knew I could revert the driver back.
Look closely at the screenshot. The driver release date is from July 25, 2014! The current version installed is from 2022. Why in the heck is CCleaner trying to download something so old?
What happens? My Bluetooth speaker I have to reconnect to Windows, but it connects as a headset. The audio is HORRIBLE! If I go to Control Panel > Sound, there is NO WAY for me to switch it from headset to speaker. I right-click, click Connect, and nothing happens.
I spent countless hours in Device Manager uninstalling drivers and reinstalling. NOTHING fixes the issue! I tried to revert back the driver in CCleaner, but it doesn't work! I reboot the computer, open CCleaner, go to Driver Update, and it shows "installed." There's zero options to revert it since I already did it once.
I really like CCleaner despite all the hate they get, but this has totally got me thinking I need to reconsider CCleaner as a product going forward. They claim the Driver Updater is "Safe," but this week's experiences 100% prove them wrong.
I reinstalled Windows. Reinstalled all my apps, and ran Driver Updater AGAIN. At this time, I didn't know it was CCleaner causing the problem on my 2nd attempt to reinstall Windows. I even went as far as buying 2 new Bluetooth speakers! When connecting a Sony and a Bose speaker they both were affected too. Windows ONLY wanted to play as a "headset" and not a "speaker." By this time I reinstalled Windows a THIRD time. I paid real close attention and when I got the Driver Updater I noticed the release date from 2014 and realized this is what's causing the problem.
CCleaner, PLEASE FIX THIS! I have the driver "skipped" for now, but you REALLY need to fix this so others don't lose their Bluetooth speakers as well. I was going crazy thinking it was something much worse hardware related. The Bluetooth speakers works PERFECTLY up until this "recommended" driver update is installed. Once it's installed, there's no reverting it. I reverted it, but it didn't actually do anything.
When the setup is running from the bluetooth driver i saw a message during setup it was doing something with the intel smartsound driver (Intel Smart Sound Technology Detection Verification).
Hello MichelN86,
Thank you so much for the response and for providing us with the details that we requested.
We will do further research on this matter and post the response on this thread once it is available.
If you have an OEM driver or a manual-install generic driver issue, please try updating the latest driver using Intel Driver & Support Assistant. Capture video and share it if BT installation issues occur again in the future.
Furthermore, based on our research and some MSI forums, it looks like the BT installation issue occurred only with your laptop. Other MSI users reply that it works fine or that using IDSA is no problem.
I use the intel drivers from your site since last year and since msi does not provide updated drivers ( -15-B12UGSZ/support?sub_product=Crosshair-15-B12UGSZ#driver). I even clean installed (added 2 new nvme drives) the whole system. Every bluetooth driver from intel worked fine during installation except the last 2. If you say you did good research you failed, i posted this issue on the msi forum on my own topic and 1 user reported he had no issues with the install, please point me to the topic where more users say it is working fine for them ??? please do.
We can only suggest that once you have installed the next driver revision, please capture screenshots and videos of the BT/wi-fi driver version and hardware ID from Device Manager, including all impacted drivers as listed in the forum, e.g., Arc, Windows Update, Realtek Audio, Nahimic Audio, Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller, Intel(R) Dynamic Application Loader Host Interface, Intel(R) Management Engine Interface #1, and Intel Smart Sound Technology Detection Verification, Intel Smart Sound driver, etc., and then please share them with us if the issue occurs again.
By the way, when you reach us again, we recommend that you submit a web ticket, chat, or call. This will allow us to provide more personalized assistance, potentially including remote access, so we can access your system for a more thorough resolution.

I Have an Asrock 390m-itx/ac mobo. Everything was fine, but then these automatic updates were pushed to my pc, and now the intel wireless bluetooth is screwed up. You can see the little usb icon in the systray toggling on/off continuously, and if you look in device manager, the icon is constantly disappearing and reappearing, and you can hear the windows new connection sound effect constantly going off. Intolerable.
I should note that when I see intel wireless in my device manager, i can uninstall, but there is no checkbox to delete files as well. This does exist on Intel Bluetooth. When I reboot, the Intel Wireless driver is already reinstalled.
I had recently updated Intel BT drivers and after that no BT device would connect to my desktop PC anymore. The BT on/off toggle had disappeared form that right-side panel accessible from the taskbar. When I opened Device Manager, the entire tree of devices would keep on refreshing every 2 seconds, until I manually disabled the Intel BT adapter (which was being continuously reset or something). I tried all manners of drive removal/upgrade/downgrade to no avail. Of course I tried rebooting the computer and even messed a bit with BIOS configs for nothing.
Yep. Like many others, I created an account to say thank you- roughly four years after this thread was created. The solution is still relevant, and it's far and away much easier and less time consuming than any of the other "solutions" I tried.
Edit: It might be important to add that different machines might require a longer or shorter interruption in the power supply for this to work. I've seen one person in this thread who unplugged their machine for 15 minutes, but I only unplugged mine for about 30 seconds.
Hi, my HP Pavilion All-in-One 23-b217c is having issues with the Bluetooth connection. It does not let me connect my devices and when I run the troubleshooter, it says there are no Bluetooth drivers detected. I went to my device manager, and it does not show my Bluetooth driver unless I click show hidden devices. I've tried resetting my PC and reinstalling Windows and that did not fix the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I purchased a Bluetooth USB adapter. It would not install and kept making PC crash. Found a URL that was supposed to take me to a download site. For some reason, it sent me to Dropbox. The options to download are there, and the word "driver" is mentioned, but the only thing I could download was a PDF, not the actual driver. has anyone run across this problem? I am pasting the URL below. Including some info about the product in case someone is familiar with this. (The link to "how to" on YouTube was worthless.) P.S. I'm new, so bear with my over/under amount of info. Thanks!
Thanks for your quick response. Unfortunately, either I've suddenly become the world's dumbest person, or I'm missing something. I have been able to download a ".rar" file, which only wants to open with Adobe Reader, which doesn't make sense. But I tried, and got an error message saying the file could not be opened by Adobe Reader because it is corrupt.
When I open the "driver" folder at the download point, I see many, many files listed. There are some ".exe" files, which is probably what I'm looking for, so why that complete folder doesn't download is beyond me. It seems strange that you had success dowloading the file, but I don't. Is it common for vendors to direct people to Dropbox to get the files that make their product work? Not blaming Dropbox, just a question.
Thanks for the temp fix, I just started having this issue.
It is interesting that you mentioned VPN drivers. I have not had this problem for the past two weeks that I have had the latest drivers and BIOS installed but It did start a few hours after I had installed PIA vpn, although I have had OpenVPN and Wireguard installed from the start with no issues. For me the bug started shortly after I connected two devices at the same time to my laptop on windows 11. Both a Logitech mouse and Samsung earbuds.
Hi, I have the same issue. We just purchase and received a new Wireless Connectivity Development kit based on the CC2540 and CC2541 but nothing works. The driver keeps loading as a Cebal driver and no COM ports are available. BTool this does not find any devices. Any help would be much appreciated.
