Irecently bought a TL-WA860RE, that works really well, but every once in a while, it stops working (I can't access the tp extender site, and it just doesn't connect my phone to the internet anymore) and then I need to reset it. It's a little annoying, because when that happens I need to stop what I'm doing and reset the router, which does take some time. Could you help me with this?
It's not happening right now so I don't know the lights' status but I will inform you as soon as possible. No, the extender does not have the same name as its source wifi. When this problem happens, my phone usually switches to the source wifi, which has low reception (because of the range) but still works. I tried pulling it off the plug and back in again, but I never used the on/off button so I don't know if ir qualifies. The frequency of this problem is variable, approximately once in two days. And yes, my devices can connect to the extender, but they just tell me there's no internet.
More specifically the extender has a problem optaining the ip address and I can't connect my phone or TV. The wifi and the power lights are steady green and the wps is black(off). I can connect normally from my router just not from the extender. The name of my extender is the same as my router with _EXT at the end. Is there a solution to permanently fix this problem?
I have absolutely same problem. Im using it as repeater via wifi. First it stopped to reconnect (freeze) every several days, but since several months it stops and freezes every day. Since 1 month it even stops every 6 or 10 hours ! Absolutely randomly.
TL-WA860RE v1 Repeater
after factory resetting the repeater it was not possible to enter the Tp-Link configuration site (loaded the quick setup site, but couldn't click Exit or Start because he got stuck everytime. also no ssh or telnet possible. the only sign of life i could get, was a working ping and the two green LED's for Power & Network)
so i found two half complete instructions on the web and figured the rest out by myself.
if you are using Windows you could search the web for "How to install Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) on Windows 10" to get a linux bash running on Windows. or maybe someone can upload the modified file to the openwrt page?
As soon as you see "Autobooting in 1 seconds" you need to paste
tpl into the putty command window.
copy it to the clipboard and right-click in the right moment
If you miss it, just repower or reset the device and try again.
Roughly 2 weeks later now and it has stopped working. I can not reset it as when I initially set it up it would only work with Option two of the quick installation guide. And now when I go to the website suggested it tells me that I have run into an issue and use the app, but the extender doesn't appear on the app. My Mac also doesn't see the extender as a network option.
@Kevin_Z Hi, I'm having the same issue. Recently, bought RE200/AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender and all set up and it was working all my devices. 2 weeks later now and stopped working all of a sudden. Now, there is no way to reset and can't see its default or new SSID in Wi-Fi list so, impossible to start from scratch for setup. I've pressed reset button but nothing is happening.
@Owen121 I had issues with the power socket extender kit (TL-WPA4220 Kit but stupidly bought the RE200 dual band extender as they said "it fixed all of the known issues with the old equipment"... working from home and desperate that is the best I could grab in Asda.
I had some difficulty adding a brand new ASUS RT-AC66U B1 to my home network. My network consists of an ASUS GT-AC5300 and two TP-Link AC1200 Wi-Fi Range Extenders (RE355). These range extenders worked substantially better than the previous TP-Link N300 Wi-Fi Range Extenders (TL-WA860RE) in regards to signal, but the main problem I had with the RE55s was that any time the power went out or I had to reset my GT-5300, I would have to power cycle the Range Extenders to get them to come up again.
So, I figured that even though this was a new unit, the firmware on the AC66U may not be the latest and greatest (even though it said it supported AiMesh and manufacture date was March 2018), I downloaded the latest firmware to my iPad, then connected to the AC66U and ran through the setup wizard and told it to use the normal Router mode. I ignored an error that there was no network cable plugged in, and it went right on through. After the router rebooted, I connected to the new 5ghz network wirelessly and upgraded the firmware via upload from my iPad. It rebooted and I logged in again. I went into the AC66U Mode page and switched it from Router to AiMesh Node. Let it reboot and crossed my fingers. No dice.
Hey Gepvyt, thanks for reaching out on our help forums and welcome to our community recently.
We're sorry to hear you're having issues connecting your smart thermostat since VM services were installed, we'd love to best assist with this.
Firstly, please visit this link here to view how to perform a pin-hole reset and please let us know if once this is done you're able to connect the thermostat only to the Wi Fi.
If not, could you please advise what error you get or is it that your thermostat does not find the network at all?
Let us know more and we're eager to assist further with this.
It's a cheap and cheerful wifi extender for 2.4Ghz only that may help. If it doesn't work, simply return it. Just plug this in somewhere in-between the Hub and the thermostat. The adapter connects to the Hub via a simple WPS button press so not technical at all.
