history/

Thursday’s bitter-cold temperatures from a historic Siberian cold front
nearly set the record for the coldest day in Denver’s recorded history.

The front, which blew into the city with a near-record-setting 75-degree
temperature drop Wednesday, kept temperatures Thursday in the negatives
the entire day, from a high of minus 6 degrees to a low of minus 24
degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The average temperature, minus 15 degrees, marked the second-coldest day
in Denver’s recorded history and the coldest since 1963.

The record is minus 17 degrees set on Jan. 11, 1963.

The frigid temperatures are lingering Friday before Denver warms up just
in time for Christmas.

....

And just to think this extreme is hidden in the average temperature
of the planet at this time that is still 1/2 degree warmer than it was
in the 1980s.

Kinda makes you think what other extremes you're in for if you don't
do anything about the rising avg temps, right?
