There are three tasks we need to complete:
1) Paint. Mark the routes with paint on the path or street. There are
three stencils for each route. They arrive at Community Cycles
Tuesday, May 10, along with paint and rags. We'll need to coordinate
who's marking
when since we only have three of each stencil. Going out in pairs is
most convenient for this task (and more fun!). In pairs, one person
can hold the other person's bike and keep an eye out for traffic (in
bike or car
form) while the other person paints. The stencils are rather large -
they are metal, are too stiff to roll up, and will not fit in most
panniers. You will need a milk crate or trailer to hold them.

Painting can be completed anytime before June 2.

2) Hang signs. In addition to painting, we also hang signs just before
the event. If they are hung earlier they tend to get destroyed by
weather or vandalized. There will be sets of signs at Community Cycles
that folks
can pick up after May 10.

Signs should be hung by noon on June 4.

3) Remove signs. This needs to happen on Monday, June 6.

There is a google doc spreadsheet shared with this group (look for a
link to it in a separate post). It breaks the ride out into sections.
When you sign up for a painting section, please allow three hours to
let you complete your section and return the stencils to Community
Cycles. I expect the sections to take about two hours, but allowing an
extra hour will help us avoid schedule conflicts. There are only three
of each stencil, so if three B180 sections are signed up for a
particular time, no more B180 marking can be scheduled for that time.
Also keep in mind CC's open hours - you might be done, but if the
shop's not open you can't return the stencil anyway. (Mon noon-5; Tu,
Th, Fr 2-7; Sat, Sun noon-7)

Hanging signs will take less time, and removing signs the least time
(in other words, go ahead and sign up for lots of these sections!).
Please return signs to Community Cycles after collecting them.

I will post more detailed information on each task separately, and
also leave handouts at the shop explaining the tasks that you can take
with you when you go to mark your sections.

I will be at Community Cycles at 5:30 PM on Tuesday May 10th for about
20 minutes with a printed map of the routes. If you happen to be able
to make it there then, you could pick a painting section then.
Otherwise just update the online file or send me your information and
I'll do it.

Thanks everyone! I hope this is clear - it's the first time we've done
this. Feel free to post questions.
