What: Turkey Bowl 2021

When: Thanksgiving Day, 11/25, 10am or whenever you have your turkey or tofurkey in the oven.

Where: Valmont Park (SW of Valmont Rd & Airport Rd), Boulder

Who/Why/How: For those of you new to the tradition, Turkey Bowl is the pickup game we played every year before the pandemic on Thanksgiving morning in Boulder, and it's time to bring it back to life. It's an institution dating back years and years, like many of its players and this announcement. Show up, or wish you had.  If it's cold out, bring some spiked hot beverage to share, if you're so inclined.  If it's warm, bring something cold.  If there's snow on the ground, we may relocate to turf at E Boulder Rec, as we've done in years past.

Please pass this along to anyone you think may be interested.  (Anshu.)  I'm lost without gru-chat.

Boulder generally has a certain flavor among its residents, but will those who are unvaccinated be letting others know… you know, because it’s the right thing to do.

You can assume that the local ultimate community is vaxxed at like a 90%+ rate based on some of the GRU league stats. I would also assume that if there are people who are unvaxxed they’d rather not offer up that information, especially not in this google group.

 You can certainly ask people their status. If you’re really concerned, bring a mask. And we’ve also talked about if you’re unvaxxed you should be wearing a mask at pickup.  AFAIK we’ve had zero transmission incidents at pickup outdoors. We are not actively tracking peoples vax status in our pickup group and I don’t think there are any plans to.

I’m personally vaxxed and feel very safe unmasked outdoors with this group. But you should do what you are most comfortable with.

I haven't seen Valmont specifically, but there was no appreciable snow in my neighborhood not far from there. So extremely doubtful that Valmont is white and frozen.

I really enjoyed yesterday all. It was really cool seeing everyone old and new. Thanks for organizing that special game. 

If anyone needs another game to work off some of that pie, we are playing longmont pick up at 12 noon @ Lefthand Creek Park today 11/26(15 mins up the road).
