Ouch. Is outdoor dead?

I'm out due to fright Flight this week but are we calling it for the free outdoor game?
(I think we had 20 last week for outdoor).

Things influencing my rationale for moving to indoor:
  • There are some people (not 20) who have been asking to play indoor for weeks now.
  • We don't have enough people showing up consistently to play both.
  • Weather is getting colder.
  • Boulder Indoor Soccer has been holding Wednesday and Friday lunches for us since BVSD started up. I fear if we don't play enough, they'll find another use for that time.
  • Last year we started indoor Fridays in September, and got Wednesday by the start of October.

I believe last year in September we started indoor and it cannibalized outdoor.(Dave loves to point out the battle/friction).

I'd suggest we start in November since club Nationals is the official end of outdoor play in another week. Also, we just started getting great consistent 20 + numbers. Also selfishly $7 to play hurts my heart while it's still sunny and playable out(and I have to put two kids through college now, 😆).

I'll do whatever the community decides as I like playing with everyone but I think they won't give our spot away on a business day. From what hear Boulder and Longmont are wide open during the day.

Would love to hear other thoughts as we are a big community.

Super open to doing what people want. It was a gorgeous day today outside, so I was a little sad to be indoors. But, we had a really fun indoor game—15 total I think?—with a few new-to-our-group playing.

Chime in, y'all: did I jump the gun on pushing us indoor today? How do people feel about:
* Indoor Wednesday, Indoor Friday
* Indoor Wednesday, Outdoor Friday
* Outdoor Wednesday, Indoor Friday

What are your personal criteria for moving indoors?

Personally: I love a mix of outdoor and indoor. Outdoor reminds me to make longer cuts and I put in more miles in a session. Indoor reminds me to throw and go, and allows me to run hard out of the bench and then sub when I'm useless. And I love the key-as-endzone we play. I'll play outdoor down to 40°F and in the snow, but prefer >50°F and dry.

I'm more likely to be motivated to miss some of my work day to play indoor for those sweet short cuts and twinkle-toes goals in the key, so that's what I will vote for on Wednesday and Friday.  But we can let the poll decide if people want to champion one or the other.

I will point out that it was outdoor that changed to Friday two summers ago to capitalize on indoor's workday-lunch momentum.  There are more opportunities to play outdoor (so it's definitely not dead!), whereas BIS is a nice, rare opportunity for indoor space available for a nominal fee. Regardless of the battle/friction last fall I don't think we had a Friday where there was no game solely because we couldn't agree on the format - perhaps thanks to Gavin's moderating skills and flexible software solutions - so perhaps we should continue to just see who wants to play when and where?
