Updates:

SparkFun AVC:
Tijlon wants to enter and Jim T too, while the entries are full up, Joel is going to see if he can squeeze us in. If you want to collaborate with them on this project, please talk with Tijlon or Jim!

Arduino workshops
are planned for March 17 (intro) and 24 or 31 (advanced). Help is needed, please coordinate with Joel if you want to help. Joel, I made a heads-up blog post for them.

Kickstarter Videos
Tuesday March 13 come prepared to show/share/tell about your stuff - see 2/28 minutes for more info

Membership/Financial update:
Reminder that dues are due, please pay by the 5th so we can meet our rent and utility expenses on time. Muchas gracias to those who have paid dues!! Keycode may change around the 5th, we will update if it does.

Here is where we stand:
end of Feb: 22 total members = 18 regular, 4 student/strapped = $1450 in dues -- assuming $75 regular, but we did prorate new members so actual was less
March members paid so far: 16 total members = 13 regular, 3 student/strapped = $1050 in dues (@ $75 regular)
Expenses: Rent is $1250 and utils are around $340.

Regarding the membership promo offered last month:
While we got very close, we did not make the goals for reducing the dues rate so dues stay at 75 for March. However, we all love the idea of lowering dues so we are extending the promo through March to give it another shot. Let's make this happen! The goal thresholds are 27 members for $63/month, 34 members for $50/month, see our Dues page for details.

2/28 meeting minutes:
Attending: Joel, Lizz, Eric, David, Daniel, Chris B, Bryant, Lane, Manny, Seb, Christian, Peter, Jim, Ben, Tijlon, Kristy, Kevin, Rudy, Derek
  • Workshops: Joel still planning to teach Arduino workshop at Denhac coming soon, at SSD now too: March 17 intro, March 24 or 31 advanced one. Android - our people haven’t been around much, we could see if Android meetup people might want to. Christian will reach out to Ross Ingram. Jim could get someone to do an iPhone class. SparkFun Yoyo is alternative to Arduino/smartphone communication (like Electric Sheep). Hosting classes others will put on is fair game too, please let us know if you have workshop ideas.
  • Rich at Community Cycles, Joel was over there helping recently, watch Google list for more info on that
  • Finances/membership: still in the red, but we have increased membership to 21 members end of Feb, was 13 end of January. 11 full, 4 student, 2 extra, 4 prorated. $165 short (though 2 @ 100 paid ahead so cash need $365). Rent remains at $75 in March. Bryant had great idea of recurring payment on PayPal, Daniel will look at changing PayPal.
  • New member outreach ideas -
    • post flyers around Boulder - Joel will work up a new flyer
    • SparkFun blog post still pending
    • Boulder Beta, Bryant/Lane/Manny will have cards and mention us, Eric will be speaking and will mention us too. Thank you!!
  • Kickstarter project - Daniel Z has gotten swamped with work, looking for help coordinating this. Needs: video camera (Matt from Denhac or Bryant will ask his person), storage (S3), script, prize structure, build a story. Few hours of raw footage is great place to start, we’ll figure out the rest. Have a video night? Tuesday March 13: bring your projects, excited attitudes, past videos, we’ll record.
  • Hackerspace club at CU - will know on Thurs whether they get funding. Next Weds they have a meeting, Peter will send out info to our Google group.
  • March 9 Friday 8 pm, rescheduled Aliens showing at Eric
  • H20: (big makerspace): met new people, found some new viable buildings, otherwise not much news from last week
  • Peter: Communikey festival April 25-29, cool artists coming, be sure to check it out.
  • CU auction Saturday March 3
