Hi all,

I am happy to anounce the formation of a new seminar here.

The seminar will focus on the Topological quantum field theory and
Conformal field theory in condensed matter physics. We hope the seminar to
be informal and interactive, and provide a basic introduction of TQFT/CFT
especially to those with little background in these areas.

The first meet would be 2:30 - 4:00 pm on Friday, in the same lecture
room. Taylor L. Hughes will give us the first talk about topological field
theories and anomalies in topological insulators.

We plan to meet about six times in the rest two weeks (when we don't have
lectures), but it is absolutely flexible and we can decide the schedule at
the time we meet. Anyone who is interested in topologicial phases,
strongly correlted systems, and quantum field theories is particularly
encouraged to attend. Idealy, for those are willing to contribute a talk,
please send me an email and we can discuss the schedule.

Best,
Yuting Hu

Hi all,

TQFT/CFT this week

We have two sections about topological stuff this week:

Brian Swingle will give a talk at 7:00 - 8:30 pm, on Wednsday.

Taylor Hughes will continue the topics in the topological insulators at
2:30 - 4:00 pm, on Friday.

hope to see you then.

Best,
Yuting

Hi all,

remider: TQFT/CFT seminar on Wednsday evening:

Z2 String-net states and topological order
Brian Swingle
Wednsday, 7:00- 8:30 pm

we are planing to have one talk on Wednsday evening, two talks on
Thursday afternoon and evening. No plans on Friday, but we can discuss the

Hi all,

We have (the last) two talks on Thursday:

CFT in condensed matter physics
Benjamin Hsu
3:00 - 4:30 pm

Fractional statistics and anyons
Yuting Hu

7:00 - 8:30 pm

Two talks may be too much and many people want to take a break, but I
think it's still better than putting it on Friday, what do you guys think?

Best,
Yuting
