You can imagine my glee when the Tineco Floor One S5 Extreme, a 3-in-1 vacuum, mop, and self-cleaning floor washer (currently on sale for $400, originally $500), arrived on my doorstep. This cordless (!!!) cleaner combines vacuuming and mopping in one machine so you can clean easier and faster, plus it self-adjusts how intensely it cleans certain areas based on how dirty the surface is. It's pretty much the real-life equivalent to one of those speedy cleaning TikTok videos, only it's very real, completely unedited, and on discount for a few more days only.

Like a robot maid from the future, it (the iLoop Smart Sensor Technology ) detects how dirty the floor is to automatically adjust flow, suction, and brush-roller speed. When you're done, you simply dump out the dirty water (and when you're ready to clean your house again, you just need to refill the water and accompanying cleaning solution, plus a clean brush head, and you're ready to go.)

But five minutes into cleaning my floors (which are vinyl), I was shocked that it was successfully picking up every little hair and promptly washing behind it, leaving the surface sparkling clean and dust-free.

Partly because of its propelling feature (it kind of just goes on its own and you follow it), it was able to clean almost my entire house without using up all the water or draining the battery. It finally alerted me I had to dump the water and replace the tank with more solution by the time I was almost done, so it didn't quite cover the entire surface area without a refill. Still, I had about 10 minutes left, so even though I had to add more water, I was able to clean in half the time I normally take with my vacuum and steam mop.

This floor cleaner is ideal for people who have hard floors, and want to spend as little time cleaning as possible. Since it has a 35-minute battery life and moderately-sized water tank, it'll clean your home in one go if you have a home smaller than 1,700 square feet (I'm just estimating based on my experience alone), but it's still great for larger homes (you'll just need to refill the water tank and possibly recharge).

The Black+Decker POWERSERIES Extreme cordless is a good, low-priced stick vacuum for those with carpeting in their homes. In our tests, it did great with debris pickup on carpet, achieving the best deep cleaning score we have seen in its price range. If you have other tools which use the Powerconnect battery system, it makes even more sense. We do suggest that homes with hard flooring consider alternatives.

The Black+Decker POWERSERIES Extreme stick vacuum is one of a half-dozen or so cordless vacuums the brand currently sells. POWERSERIES Extreme uses a 20V lithium-ion battery system that makes it a part of a much larger family of products. Those products include other vacuums and several types of tools, including lawn trimmers, drills, sanders, and blowers.

In a lot of ways, it is conceptually similar to the Hoover ONEPWR Emerge Pet+ which we have recently reviewed. In fact, the two vacuums have many of the same features. The POWERSERIES Extreme cordless costs far less, however. At last check, its price was half that of the Hoover.

As we expected, this made it particularly good in our carpet deep clean test, where it again scored higher than average. In that test, we embed sand into a medium pile carpet and weigh the bin before and after a set number of cleaning passes. For comparison, on its maximum power setting the POWERSERIES Extreme scored the same as another, much more expensive vacuum: the Dyson V12 (read our Dyson V12 Detect Slim review).

It was also really good with debris pickup on the surface of carpets. It picked up everything from fine to large debris though it did struggle a little bit with extra large debris. But overall, it proved to be a good vacuum for carpets.

The controls are simple; on the handle, there are three different power options to choose from as well as the option to turn the brush roll on or off. And finally, BLACK+DECKER packaged the POWERSERIES Extreme with many different tools for above-floor cleaning jobs, including a crevice tool with a flip-out brush, a low-profile pet accessory, and an accessory holder.

We tested it on its highest power setting and got almost 11 minutes of runtime, which is a little below average for its airflow, but still pretty good. We would recommend using it on its medium power setting for most tasks. In that setting, it should provide around 20 minutes of cleaning per charge.

One significant downside to this vacuum is its performance with debris pickup on hard floors. This is again because of that close-to-the ground floorhead design. It was able to pick up fine debris really well, but it would just push medium to extra large debris around rather than pick it up. It was also a little louder than average in our noise tests.
