I have never done a 'google group'

Ok I swear I am not totally out of the tech loop but what is a google group?

I AM out of the tech loop.  I formed the group to have one email address that would forward to all of our members.  It makes life easy when you want to quickly communicate with everyone.  

I am sure there are other features, but email was my reason!
