General 240v systems I'm ok with and am completely at ease with but when it comes to Quartz circuit boards I am completely lost. The terminology is a complete mystery so the instructions with the tester tell me nothing really.
Hello clockboy, thanks for your reply, the battery is ok but my problem is that I just don't know what the terminology means so the instructions mean nothing to me and I don't know what they refer to.
I have one as well, exactly the same and have found it to be worth having. The line free facility that sends the pointers spinning came in useful a few times though once it sent the minute hand flying off, however that turned out to be the fault. The audible pulse sensor proved death in one of them, bought it as friends and family kept giving me quartz watches to sort out and as George says for the money it's ok.
The tests are basic and based on a majority of watches at the cheaper end of the market? You do not need to do much except follow the instructions blindly, get a working watch at the pound shop and play with the line free and pulse facilities to see them work to prove your machines ok. Don't forget the watch you test may actually be dead and perhaps that's why your machine seems not to work.
I personally never "got into" anything other than a very basic idea on how a Quartz watch works but have got away with changing batteries and getting rid of dirt (or a small hair on one occasion) to free the train.

PIxel Watch 2: When you update over Wi-Fi, this update will take 15-20 minutes. Updating over Bluetooth could make the update take significantly longer (up to an hour). You may need to unlock the watch to check that the setup is complete.
Tip: When your device and watch successfully connect, "Connected" will appear in the Google Pixel Watch app. If your device and watch aren't connected, "Disconnected" will appear on the watch screen.

Magnetized watches run poorly because major components cannot interact as they normally would within the structure of the movement. The result is a watch that may run quickly, erratically, or, if the magnetic force is strong enough, stop altogether. So what can you do?
The first option is to go to a watchmaker and have them demagnetize your watch. While this is a fine choice (and even saves you from reading the rest of this article), access can be difficult in some areas, and let's face it, going to your watchmaker does not a How-To make. For those willing to roll up their sleeves and push a single (and exceedingly low effort) button, I recommend picking up a watch demagnetizing tool.
First, you can use a compass. I prefer a simple digital compass, like what you can find buried in the feature list of a Garmin Fenix or a Casio ProTrek. Turn on the compass and then slowly bring your watch closer to the compass display; if the heading changes considerably in response to your watch getting close to the compass, your watch is magnetized.
While I have anti-magnetic watches that literally won't "move the needle" on the compass, I will break out the tool for any watch that isn't running well or any watch that causes a swing of more than 10+ degrees. I treat this a bit like keeping my kitchen knives sharp. It's quick maintenance and it certainly doesn't take long to do a quick de-mag pass on even a large collection.
