Notes:
  1. The Growing Center sings are on winter hours, 6-8pm.
  2. The Port Session is confirmed for this month.
  3. The Belmont sings are a week early this month and next.
  4. The Pub Carol Sing is returning (on Nov. 29)!
THIS WEEK:

Tue Nov 18, 6-8pm: Growing Center Outdoor Pub Sing
Somerville Community Growing Center, 22 Vinal Ave, Somerville, MA
If you don't have a Somerville parking permit, you can park on Highland Ave and walk down. Come sing in-person, outdoors, in a beautiful setting! We'll have a propane fire pit and marshmallows to toast. Other snacks are welcome.
COVID PRECAUTIONS: Because singing is a relatively high-risk activity, we ask that people attend only if vaccinated, boosted, and symptom-free. Anyone may lead a song, but no-one is obliged to. Drinking songs and sea chanteys always go over well, but anything with a good, singable chorus will be appreciated.

Wed Nov 19, 7:30-10:30pm: Port Session in Newburyport
The Port Tavern, 84 State St, Newburyport, MA
This doesn't happen every month.  Cancellations/confirmations are sometimes but not always posted in their facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/nbptportermen).  Failing that, you can call the venue: (978) 465-1006
"Join The Portermen for an evening of merrymaking whilst singing sea shanties and folk songs from the British Isles, North America and beyond. This is an open singing session and all are welcome to join in a rousing chorus, lead a song or just listen and enjoy! Acoustic instruments are also welcome to accompany your song!"

Thu Nov 20, 7-10pm: Belmont pub sing
Where: Odd Fellows Hall - Friendship Lodge #20 IOOF, 16 Maple St, Belmont, MA
*** BYO food & drink. Must be 21+ to partake of alcohol. *** Come sing with us! Trad folk music of (mainly) America, Canada, & The British Isles. Sea shanties, drinking songs, mining songs, farming songs, all sorts of songs! Good choruses and great harmony abound. Emphasis on group participation and an inclusive atmosphere. Hosted by Red Kovatch.

NEXT WEEK:

Mon Nov 24, 6:30pm - 8:45pm RI pub sing at Flatbread Co. Providence
Where: 161 Cushing St, Providence, RI
2nd and 4th Mondays. With Ben, Armand, & Flannery (the Vox Hunters), indoors.

Tue Nov 25, 7pm - 9pm: Round Sing (w/ potluck at 6)
Where: Somerville, MA
Please RSVP to bethk...@gmail.com if you DO plan to attend -- esp. if interested in pre-sing potluck at 6. (You are welcome to attend even if you don't RSVP, though!)
EMAIL LIST:If you would like to be added to the list, please add your name on the EMAIL tab in our Rounds document. You'll find lyrics and links to demonstrations of the rounds in the "Music and Lyrics" tab. The email list is the only way in which we will send notifications about last-minute changes or cancellations. As usual, snacks to share are strictly optional.

Sat Nov 29, 4-7pm: The return of the Pub Carol Sing!
Where: The Substation, 4228 Washington St, Roslindale, MA
This was a beloved annual tradition until Doyle's Pub in JP was sold (shortly before the pandemic).  It's now back at last -- in an experimental new venue that's not near Somerville but should be worth carpooling to.
It's West Gallery music from England.  Imagine shape note singing with the addition of instruments and beer!  With Bruce Randall and the Folk Song Society of Greater Boston.

Sun Nov 30, 3-5pm: Salem pub sing
East Regiment Beer Company, 30 Church St #B1, Salem, MA 01970, USA
Led by Peter and Audi Souza and Bob and Jen Strom.
Check the venue's calendar before going, to confirm that it's on: https://eastregimentbeercompany.com/events?view=calendar

Where: Lexington Community Center, 39 Marrett Rd, Lexington, MA
A pilot daytime song circle with Deborah Anne Goss.
RSVP: 781-698-4840
