Hello Dog Group Members and Moderators:

We're asking you to please forward this message to your members urging people to buy tickets to our dog park fundraiser by tomorrow.

City Councilor Bill Linehan has scheduled a hearing to take place at the same time as our event on the subject of leash laws and open spaces for dogs. We have asked Linehan as well as our own City Councilor (and Council President) Maureen Feeney to have the date of the hearing changed, but they were uncooperative. Since we had already begun to advertise our event (and booked a venue) at that point, we felt it was unwise to reschedule. This is a huge conflict and we are very upset that it has occured.

This is what we ask you to do. Dog Groups should send 1-2 members to the hearing to represent your group. Those members can read a letter on behalf of your group. We ask you to please send other members of your group to our event. I know the hearing is free and it's downtown, but I really think our fundraiser will be a lot more fun and a lot less stressful. I'm pretty sure you can't get a pint of beer at City Hall (but who knows).

The fundraiser is being held on Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 6:30-10pm at Ashmont Grill in Dorchester. Even if you go to the hearing, you can still show up fashionably late to our event. Plus you'll be all riled up and energized about all things DOG. We ask that you purchase tickets right away from www.friendsofronanpark.org. If you do not want to buy tickets online, just email me and I'll be happy to give you the discount at the door.

Thanks and I really hope to see some of you next week!
