Hi everyone,

I want to report a very successful walk at Millenium yesterday.

The walk started out a bit slow because of the cloudy conditions but the birding soon picked up. I'm providing 2 lists, reflecting the main walk on the ruins trail and the park loop trail, and an extension walk to the West Roxbury High School Marsh.

The most notable sightings were 7 (!) Green Herons & 2 Black-Crowned Night Herons in the marsh, 4 Hummingbirds around the perimeter trail, and 2 Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks and a juvenile Redstart in the canoe parking lot.

Michael Murphy gets credit for spotting the Green Herons and the Redstart.

Sam Harris gets credit for spotting multiple hummingbirds. He also spotted a funky warbler at the beginning of the trip. I'll let him post on that if he wishes so I don't mess up the details.

Please note that my lists are missing some of the 'good' birds because I'm using my personal lists as the trip lists and I haven't figured out how to have separate personal lists and trip lists :)

Lastly, I'm pleased to announce that there will be more joint BBC-BNC walks this fall. Details coming soon!

Thanks to Correne George and Mass. Audubon for making this a successful summer of partnership birding!
