Fifth time was the charm for the Barrow's Goldeneye. It was seen where it almost always is seen, i.e. the Korean War Monument. I knew I had some sort of goldeneye, but it was too far out. I didn't give up. It gradually moved closer, to the point where it was only about one-hundred yards out with the sun behind me. Great looks. The paths are all ice and snow free. I birded from 3:30-5:10. Not only did I not bring a hat and gloves, but also I didn't need them!

Common Loon 2
Red-throated Loon 1
Brant 7
Rough-legged Hawk 1        usual spot. Identifiable with just binoculars from fish pier
Purple Sandpiper 7
Snow Buntings 44   landed near me as I was looking for goldeneye; I heard the call and turned around
