Hi everyone,

I want to alert you all to a Brookline Bird Club-sponsored bird walk
at Brook Farm, 670 Baker St, West Roxbury, MA this upcoming Sun., Jun. 1, 2025 at 8 am.

I'll be co-leading a walk Michael McCarthy where we will observe resident
birds and spring migrants in a unique urban habitat with a multitude of habitats
that is a favorite for many bird species, including uncommon and rare birds.
Birders from beginners to experts will enjoy this walk.

Target species are cuckoos, flycatchers, grosbeaks, herons, orioles, rails, thrushes, vireos, warblers, & woodpeckers are target birds.

We may do an optional 30 minute trip extension to an adjacent location such
as Millenium Park.

What to Bring:

  • Hat
  • Waterproof footwear
  • Water
  • Binoculars (recommended)
  • Sunblock (recommended)
  • Insect repellent (recommended).

Trail Conditions: combination of paved, grass, and dirt (typical of wooded areas) and generally flat with occasional gentle inclines.

Registration: The walk is free but preregistration is required. Please preregister by emailing
neil.c...@mac.com.

Directions: Coming from the Arnold Arboretum and Allandale Woods, follow the VFW Parkway towards Dedham and take a right onto Baker St. Drive about 1/3 of a mile, then take a left to Baker Street.  Proceed to the parking lot at the Baker Street entrance to Brook Farm, 670 Baker St, West Roxbury - opposite 'The Old Print Shop' building. Park in spaces around the historic Brook Farm buildings. If you enter The Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, you've gone too far.

Note: If you run late, we will proceed from the Print Shop up the paved road toward the Cemetery to the second Mass. DCR trailhead gate on the right and then bird in the woods from there.

Hope to see you there!

Neil
