This is a month of celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the Minuteman Bikeway!

"Living History: The Lexington Branch, from Railway to Bikeway"
Wednesday, September 5, 7 pm, the old railway depot building, 13 Depot Square, Lexington.
Sam Doran, Local Historian and B&M Railroad Buff; and Tom Fortmann, Local Cyclist and Bikeway Co-Founder
Tom and Sam will give an illustrated history of the Lexington and West Cambridge Branch Railroad: its conception, birth, heyday, decline, death, and finally its rebirth as the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway, our nation’s 500th rail-trail and inspiration for many other rail-trails in the region.  Refreshments!

Throughout September: 
"Trains and Bicycles in Lexington" -- a CVS Pharmacy Window illustrated display of the history of the railroad and the bikeway, 1735 Mass Ave., Lexington. 

"Bikes, the Bikeway, and Surrounds" -- a display of the work of 25 artists who have recreated in a variety of artistic mediums some of your favorite places along the bikeway. 
Gallery show at the Munroe Center for the Arts, 1403 Mass Ave., Lexington
Public Reception is Friday, September 14,  7:30 to 8:30 pm.


Saturday, September 29 is Minuteman Bikeway Day!
Come celebrate the 25th anniversary in Lexington with special activities on the Visitors' Center lawn and along the bikeway!  Anniversary T-shirts for sale!  Bike maintenance help and advice!  ACROSS Lexington Bike Rides!  Musical performances on the lawn and along the bikeway!  Great new bikes on display from local bike stores!
