ACROSS Lexington Bike Tours
Route B Led by Laurel Carpenter departs at 11 am (4.5 miles)
Route A Led by Mike Tabaczynski departs at 2 pm (5.4 miles)
The rides will take us through a number of Lexington’s most scenic open spaces. We will travel via town streets, paved bike paths and unpaved walking trails, so be prepared to dismount and walk bikes at certain locations due to rocks or boardwalks. Bikes with sturdy tires for trail riding (hybrid, mountain or fat bike tires) are recommended; helmets are required. Children 12 years and older are welcome with an adult on both rides. Bring water and a snack, if you wish. Both rides will depart from the Lexington Visitors’ Center (next to the bikeway)
Bike Maintenance and Repair
12 Noon - 3:00 PM. Join Anthony Laskaris, Vice President at the Cycle Loft, as he leads an entertaining and instructional hands-on session on basic bicycle maintenance. Learn how to change a flat tire, trouble-shoot a drive train, and perform basic routine repairs. Anthony will demystify the bicycle's mechanical systems and participants will come away with a greater understanding of how their own bicycles work.
Participants may bring their own bicycles, but are not required to do so. Time for one-on-one consultations will be available.Great New Bikes!
Great New Bikes!
1pm - 3pm Local bicycle shops will show some popular new bikes. Talk with the owners of CycleLoft, Ride Studio Cafe, and Bicycle Belle about a bike that might work for you!
Smart Cycling
11-3 pm. League Cycling Instructor Lou Savarino will talk about the basics of Smart Cycling, such as choosing the right bicycle, bike handling basics, proper attire and rules of the road. Ask questions about how you or your children can ride more, more safely - or how to share the road with cyclists when you are behind the wheel of your automobile. Lexington Police officers will be on hand to give out and fit kids' bike helmets (donated courtesy of Breakstone, White and Gluck LLC).
Have fun on Saturday! Peggy Enders
