Boston Tech Poetic Friends,

I have an open Call for Submissions that may be of interest, and I hope you consider submitting.

We're seeking works futuring reality, whatever that may mean to you.  I am especially interested in speculative literature of all genres--  essays, poems, fiction, work of XR/VR/AR and work about extended or alternate realities.

Next Realities: Call for Submissions
Re•mediate, a magazine for computer-assisted creative writing, is pleased to announce its new call for submissions, open April 1 through July 1, 2025.
This is re•mediate’s first guest-edited issue.
Guest Editor: Monica Storss (Northeastern, MIT)

What worlds are on the horizon? Augmented realities, virtual frontiers, Next Realities seeks your boldest visions of tomorrow.

Next Realities seeks your speculative fiction, poetry, essays, + artwork that push the boundaries of reality + interrogate what’s next. We are especially interested in projects that use an emergent technology as the medium to interrogate the concept of a next reality: conjure narratives from the bleeding edge of VR/AR. Send us your visualizations of the ripple effects of the multiverse.

We are seeking:
Immersive-Interactive + work that engages with speculative futures + pasts.
Multiverse-quantum physics-string theory based work encouraged.
Literary, Poetic, or Narrative Works of Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, + Mixed Reality as medium

Stories, poems, essays, and interactive artwork that grapple with the transformative forces shaping our future. Explore ethical quandaries, technological leaps, chemically mediated next realities, + the human condition in flux.

Projects we welcome:
Immersive + interactive literary projects engaging with the theme of “Next Realities”
Traditional forms around alternate realities + speculative futures + pasts
Multiverse- or quantum physics-centered work

How to Submit:
Submit at: https://remediatelitmag.xyz/submit/
For AR, VR, or MR works: Provide a screen capture recording of the experience (hosted on platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, etc.), and share a link to access the work (QR codes or URLs are accepted).

Include a process statement (250-400 words) that explains your creation process, including the technology used, artistic challenges, and insights. (See website for notes about Process Statements).

We welcome a range of submissions: traditional forms around alternate realities and speculative futures, immersive works, and mixed-reality projects. Whether you're engaging with the bleeding edge of XR technology or envisioning a speculative future through storytelling, re•mediate looks forward to engaging with your work.

Issue will launch at the Electronic Literature Organization conference (ELO25) in Toronto.
