Hey all,
I came across some art works by Manfred Mohr (some might say the "godfather of computational art", but definately an early pioneer in digital art) from a storage unit down in the Cape area. The clean out crew didn't know much about the owner of the unit, but the one in charge was savvy enough to notice the (scribble) signature and info to save them from the trash ... I was able to bid and win them. I do auctions as a hobby on the weekends.
I found these vintage '60s pieces on his portfolio site and apparently some of the set are in bitforms in NYC (?) ... not sure about these two (1968?) ... I do believe these were made prior to his use of computers to create his unique style ... perhaps by manual tools in the traditional (screen)print process?
In any regard, I plan on having them framed immediately. I'm not entirely sure why they were in "loose" format. I think perhaps I'll fabricate some custom frames for them ... something wild that is more than just a tradional frame and glass ... part of my growing digital artist collection.
