Hey blues friends,

Here's what's up in the Boston Blues scene (and beyond) this month:
  • Guest instructor Mark Carpenter from California at Tuesy on Jan 19th!
  • Musicality, Improvisation, & Partnership theme at Bluesy Tuesy!
  • Intermediate balance series at Blues Union with Mike Legenthal!
  • Live music at Blues Union Jan 7th!
  • Travel to dance in Philly, Greenville, Pittsburgh, and more!

Stuff around town

January at Bluesy Tuesy - Musicality, Improvisation, & Partnership
with Mark Carpenter; Zach Brass, & Paul Loschak
This month's classes will focus on some of our favorite aspects of blues dancing: music, partner conversation, and improvisation! Special guest instructor, Mark Carpenter, will teach class on Jan 19th!

January at Blues Union - Balancing Act
with Mike Legenthal
In its simplest sense, balance for blues dancers is the art of not falling down.  However, balance exists in many contexts- turning, one-foot, two foot, two-person, and standing on foot while patting your head and rubbing your stomach.  Come train some balance drills, and learn how to use balance as a part of your dancing- as well as not falling down.

**If you’ve taken 6 months or more of blues classes at Blues Union or Bluesy Tuesy, you can take the intermediate classes at Blues Union. Alternately, you can do a blues interview with Jenn or Julie at the Blues Clinic.

Live Music at Blues Union - Jan 7th
Sweetie and the Toothaches help us kick off the new year with some awesome live blues music!

Earn free dances while spreading the love of blues!
When you dance at a blues bar, music event, or other blues bomb (or if you teach at a local college), bring some blues ambassador business cards to hand out! If people come to dances for their first time with your card, you get in that night for free! Talk to Andrew at Bluesy Tuesy or Julie Brown or Jenn Martinez at Blues Union to get yourself some cards.

Live music where you can go dance!

Looking for more chill, hangin’ out exchanges?
These events don’t have classes during the day; instead they have either dances or non-dancing events around the city that they’re hosted in. The evenings have tons of dancing again, and may or may not include competitions.
