Here's the scoop on the blues scene this month, in Boston and beyond!

December at Bluesy Tuesy - Momentum & Inertia

with Jan Marie; Julie Brown

This month is all about inertia! In partnered connections, we will learn the core awareness, tone, and signals needed to overcome our own and our partner's state of rest and use that newfound inertia to create momentum, both within our own bodies and in tandem with our partner.


The first week will be taught by Julie Brown, rest of the month with Jan Marie.



December at Blues Union - All Blues Clinics

Every week this month, we’ll have a blues clinic! Work on your own or with your friends & peers on whatever you want, or grab an available instructor or advanced blues dancer to get one-on-one feedback on your dancing.


We’ll still have the regularly-scheduled Intro class at 8:30pm as well.



Blues Union closed on Christmas Eve & New Year’s Eve

Enjoy the time with your family and/or friend-family, and we’ll see you the rest of the month, and next year!



Earn free dances while spreading the love of blues!

When you dance at a blues bar, music event, or other blues bomb (or if you teach at a local college), bring some blues ambassador business cards to hand out! If people come to dances for their first time with your card, you get in that night for free! Talk to Andrew at Bluesy Tuesy or Julie Brown or Jenn Martinez at Blues Union to get yourself some cards.



Blues+Swing Dancing in Western MA!

Hogan Student Center, College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA

  • Practice every Sunday - regular meetings of the blues & swing dancing group that meets every Sunday at 8pm. There will be a sign pointing out the exact room.

  • December monthly swing & blues dance - December 4th, Star Wars Themed: "The Empire Swings Back!" Lesson from 7-8. Dancing from 9-11.

Sunday Dec 13, 6:30-8:30 as part of their Sounds of the Speakeasy.


Amy K & Tiger Moan at Blues Union

Dec. 17 we bring the live music right to you at Blues Union, as Amy Kucharik celebrates her birthday with her blues band, Tiger Moan, featuring special guests!


Amy K & Friends with Benefits at Thunder Road

Also, save the date for New Year’s Day: Amy K. & Friends With Benefits ring in the New Year at Thunder Road in Union Square with Kristen Ford and Wishbone Zoe!

-Sunday blues jam at Pete’s Grill in Quincy 9-12 on Sunday


*Dancers don’t always go to all of these every week; check Facebook (Boston Blues Bombers group) and ask around to see where folks will be.

Want a learning- and/or competition-focused event?

These events usually have multiple tracks or levels of classes during the day. At night, there’ll be tons of dancing and maybe one or more competitions or performances.

Looking for more chill, hangin’ out exchanges?
These events don’t have classes during the day; instead they have either dances or non-dancing events around the city that they’re hosted in. The evenings have tons of dancing again, and may or may not include competitions.
