Hey Blues Dancers,
Here's what's going on in the Boston Blues Dance scene and beyond this month!
Stuff around town
November at Bluesy Tuesy - Turns & Momentum
with Joey Science & Zach Brass
Each week, Zach & Joey will teach a different topic related to turns, spins, and momentum--creating a little more ‘wheee!’ in your dancing, while helping you follow and lead it all comfortably, clearly, and confidently.
November at Blues Union Int+ - Struttin’!
with Julie Brown & Jenn Martinez
Struttin’ is a comfy and fun blues dance from Memphis! Danced mostly in close embrace, and well-suited for a variety of tempos of music, struttin’ combines comfy connection with cool footwork stylings for followers and leaders. This series will give you the basics then quickly move into awesome variations and moves. If you missed Lonestar Strut this year, this will cover some of the more advanced material offered there.
No Blues Union on Thanksgiving Day (Nov 24)
Enjoy your post-meal naps, and we'll see you the following week!
Second Sun Rising - Boston’s fusion monthly
Sunday, Nov 13, Extreme Dancesport, Cambridge, MA
From 7 to 8 p.m., Paul Loschak and Claire Davis will be teaching an all-levels lesson on movement, momentum, and stretch in partner dancing. Paul and Evan Kristiansen will DJ the social dancing from 8 to 11 p.m. https://www.facebook.com/events/1303030059721354/
Earn free dances while spreading the love of blues!
When you dance at a blues bar, music event, or other blues bomb (or if you teach at a local college), bring some blues ambassador business cards to hand out! If people come to dances for their first time with your card, you get in that night for free! Talk to Andrew at Bluesy Tuesy or Julie Brown or Jenn Martinez at Blues Union to get yourself some cards.
Live music where you can go dance!
Amy Kucharik plays at Sally O'Brien's on Tuesdays in Nov
Sally O'Brien's - Tuesdays 8-11pm (except for election night, Nov 8)
If you want to hit up two blues dancin' events in one night, you could check out Bluesy Tuesy AND hear some live tunes from Amy K's band at Sally O'Brien's! http://www.sallyobriensbar.com/
Nov 15th will be Amy K with Tiger Moan, so there'll be more blues tunes throughout the night.
