Morning Colleagues,

Reaching out to ask you each to please share this part-time lecturer position (outside the tenure structure) in your networks. I'm happy to answer any questions and share my own experience.

Thank you,
Colleen

Brandeis University seeks to hire a teaching faculty member in Environmental Science to join the Environmental Studies Program in Fall 2026. This is a two year, part-time appointment outside the tenure structure, covering the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 academic years. It carries a 5 course teaching load spread over the two years (spread over 4 semesters).

Requirements for the position include: a Ph.D. in environmental science or allied fields in the natural sciences, completed by the time of appointment; and a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate level. All candidates with expertise in any branch of environmental science will be considered: e.g., geology, hydrology, chemistry, physics, sustainability, or biology. We seek a candidate whose scientific expertise qualifies them to teach courses complementing current courses in ecology, climate science, oceanography, and participatory science currently taught at Brandeis. The ability to teach skills based courses to prepare our students for employment are highly desirable.

This appointment is to a position that is in a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509.
