Hi everyone --
Several purebred Russian queens from Coy Bee Company are available
at Agricultural Hall in Jamaica Plain.
Coy Bee (
https://coybeecompany.com/)
is a member of
The Russian Honeybee Breeders Association
(RHBA). RHBA "certifies members who have demonstrated they can
consistently produce queens that keep mite numbers low and pass a
DNA test for purity."
Russians are reported to be more resistant to varroa; because there
is overlap in the range of both Russian and Asian honeybees (
Varroa
destructor's original host), Russian bees have, so it's said,
developed resistance to varroa. This is not a guarantee that they
will be varroa free -- always check for mites.
Several of the queens are already sold, but if you would like one
or more, please send me an email to bees...@AgHall.com.
