Subject: {Norfolk County Beekeepers Association} Programs update
To: Norfolk County Beekeepers Association <norfo...@googlegroups.com>

Here's an update on what we have going on in programs and education.

Intermediate Bee School - registration will close Sunday night at
midnight. This year, because we're in virtual format and because there's
been a lot of collaboration between clubs, we decided to offer the
program to other clubs in the area. Enrollment now stands at 238, we
have people from all over Mass. and RI, and a couple from NY and VT, and
even one in Florida! This has generated significant income for NCBA,
which will allow us to do a few new things this year. It's very
exciting. We brought in guest instructors this year and in addition to
our own Jane Sloboda, Bob Hickey, and Janice and Michael Barczys, we
have Dan Conlon (Apiary Planning and Record Keeping), Landi Simone
(Winter Prep), Cindy Holt (EAS Master Beekeeper from RI) (Other diseases
and colony problems), and Steve Repasky (Management of Single Brood
Chamber Hives for Swarm Control and Honey Production). This leaves 4
classes for me. I will learn something from the others, I'm looking
forward to it. There's still time to join on website

April 5 - Lewis Cauble, NC state apiary inspector - The Importance of a
Robust Mite Monitoring Plan
May 3 - Sam Ramsey not available, have a request out to Randy Oliver
June 7 - Bob Hickey - Catching and marking queens/Question and Answers
with a panel
July 5 - Ang Roell - Walkaway split project
All meetings 7:30 PM

Shared RIBA meetings:
Feb. 14 - Bill Hesbach (CT EAS Master Beekeeper) - Spring Management
Mar. 14 - Erin Forbes - Swarm management/Nucs
April 18 - 3 shorts - Ed Szymanski - Mite control/ Sara Michaud (Cornell
Master Beekeeper)- Brood Assessment / Cindy Holt (EAS MAster Beekeeper)
- Native bees
May 9 - Rachael Bonoan - Why Do Bees Like Dirty Water
June 10 (note Thursday night) - Sam Ramsey - Varroa Management: How
Mites Should Be Treated
All meetings Sunday 7:00 PM unless otherwise noted

That's all!
