Hi folks,

We hope everyone had a great winter break and is settling into the spring semester. We're excited to send out our spring meeting dates.

Tuesday, February 25 from 2:00-3:00pm
Topic: Accessibility and Disability
Conversation starters:
"Disabilities in the Writing Center" by Rebecca Day Babcock, Praxis 2015

"A Practical Guide to Making a Writing Center Space More Physically Accessible" by Kelle Alden, Another Word 2022

Wednesday, March 26 from 11:00am-12:00pm
Topic: Tutor Safety
Conversation starter:
"Honoring Consultant Safety: A Community Contract for Better Writing Center Ethics" by Liz Thomae and Aleena Jacob, The Peer Review 2024
(Just a heads up that it's a little long.)

We hope you'll join us for one or both with questions, thoughts, struggles, and suggestions. We've included some articles here that might help get you thinking about the topics, but if you don't read them that's perfectly fine--please join us anyway!

We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks!
Greg & Jamie

Hi everyone,
My apologies, I forgot to include the Zoom links for our meetings. They're now in the email below.

Dear BAWCA Colleagues,
I hope you all managed to stay warm and safe with all the snow and ice this past weekend. I just wanted to send a quick reminder that we're meeting next week to talk about Accessibility and Disability in the Writing Center.

Tuesday, February 25 from 2:00-3:00pm

All are welcome! The readings aren't required, but if you are looking to check out something on the topic, consider these:
"Disabilities in the Writing Center" by Rebecca Day Babcock, Praxis 2015

"A Practical Guide to Making a Writing Center Space More Physically Accessible" by Kelle Alden, Another Word 2022

We hope to see you next week!
Greg

Hi folks,
For those of you who recently had a spring break, I hope it was restful and/or productive. I just wanted to send out a reminder that we're meeting next week to talk about tutor safety. Feel free to read the linked article, but no worries if you don't--it's definitely on the long side.
