MIT’s Writing and Communication Center (WCC) invites applications for a full-time (100%) and a part-time (50% with benefits) Lecturer position with an expected start date of September 1st, 2024. Initial appointments are for nine-months and are renewable based on positive performance reviews. Offering salary will start at $69,556 for this position. The final salary will be determined by the candidate’s relevant years of experience.

 

WCC Lecturers provide one-on-one and group teaching, as well as writing groups and online resources to the diverse MIT community of students, scholars, researchers, faculty, and staff. They consult on written, oral, or visual projects across disciplines and genres, as well as assist with project management and writing process issues.

 

A Master’s degree in one of the following areas is required, PhD preferred: Scientific and Technical Writing, Rhetoric, Linguistics, Teaching English as a Second Language, Composition Studies, Creative Writing, or a related field. Must have three years of experience teaching undergraduate or graduate students, experience working with STEM students and documents, experience consulting clients one-on-one, and experience or training in working with multilingual clients. Must be familiar with Zoom, Google Drive, Word, Excel/Google Spreadsheets, Outlook, and Power Point.
